So I did a thing. I get to buy one big item a year for my car, last year was Ridetech triples and this year is an amazing set of BAER brakes. These things are massive 15" both front and rear, made right here in the good old USA. This kit also will save around 40 LBS over stock!!! I will weight everything a document the install as I go (might be a couple weeks, its 115 everyday and my garage gets up to 140!) I can't wait to test these.

The plan is to test them with the in car braking app as follows...

1) Stock PP brakes ..already have data
2) Carbotech AX6 pads front.. have data
3) Carbotech AX 6 pads F/R with SS lines
4) Baer brakes F/R

Test car.

Looking great! Do you need to pull the calipers off to change the pads?

-T
Yes. The 6R version you don't need too, but that was alittle more coin.

How are you mounting them in the rear?
There's no big mods to do. The hardest part is you need to drill and tap the hub for the parking brake setup.

Nice!
Baer make one of the best systems around, next to Wilwood and Brembo.

^^ StopTech and Brakeman are truly performance calipers.

Guys, the tires stop the car; the brakes facilitate the stopping. Put 15" rotors with 6 piston calipers on a car with skinny front runners and there will be zero improvement in stopping distance. Moreover, braking is a system. The fronts and rears must match the car's weight distribution - also known as brake torque bias. Shift too much torque bias to the rear and you will experience snap over-steer - not a good thing. The S550 is weight biased about the same as the Fox body - 54/46. Keep this in mind when playing with brakes.

Very true. I've got a good set of tires, I will be upgrading to 305's as soon as they get released this summer. The s550 could really use more rear brake, is 15" 6 pot over kill? Possible, we will find out soon. It's not to going to hurt the car any, its very heavy and the stock brakes do a good job up to a point, but there have been many times on track I really wish the car had more brake.

Can't wait to see the data.
If I ever get a Mustang, and don't win the lottery, I expect to replace the factory rotors with the Baer EradiSpeed two piece rotors. I think that direct bolting is funky, but like the lighter weight.

As long as we're voting on our favorite vendors for brakes, I'll put in for Performance Friction. They're always slow to market and expensive, but there are no better pads, rotors or calipers.
