Axle Back - which one

Okay, I want to release SOME of the growl of my V8 and I am struggling with which exhaust to buy.

Why axle back?
Well its not that I cant afford anything else, I can but I just want to release a bit of noise so I dont feel a full or cat back system is needed.

There are a few axle backs out there but I dont have any idea which one.

Youtube vids dont give you a gauge of what sort of sound you get or more importantly, what its like inside.

Any ideas or views guys?

BTW, it must fit the original rear panel

I like your car. As I said, it just needs to sound as good as it looks and a girly little axleback won't do it! ;)

I was strongly considering the Roush ones (for my EB) - Axel backs this is, they sounded the best, again, for an EB.

I wonder if our other Steve on the forums [MENTION=19807]SteveP[/MENTION] has an axelback version of the Miltek exhausts he could do a clip of for you / price up and see... Might be worth while as their catback sounds ridiculous!

Bloody hell I hope I doesn't look like that. When I pull up somewhere are people expecting an Ali G lookalike to get out but instead, a heading towards 50 and showing signs of wear and tear man falls out?

Interesting that you think it needs the whole system but I am not sure just yet. I want to hear some before I buy but getting impatient!!

SteveP's based in Derbyshire, near the Derby Football ground if i recall correctly, fitting an axelback doesn't require much specialist knowledge, plenty of guides online, but if you want the safety and security of a trained engineer doing it... ;).

Hearing before you buy is going to be tough, no camera or youtube video is going to give you that 'true sound', a few lads with their cars at the meets however!!!!

I agree, I just want a nice rumble when cruising and a bark when I open her up. I dont want to annoy pedestrians, passengers or myself!

Another option to just unleash a bit of sound as you say, is to look to replace the OEM resonator with an X-PIPE or H-PIPE. You need to cut the back boxes off to replace them so if you are willing to do that, then consider cutting out the resonator and replacing that instead. A few videos can be found online and I believe there is one on CJ Ponyparts as well.

What happened to the days of cutting off the stock silencers and replacing with a 'cherry bomb' ?
How many of you on here have even heard of a cherry bomb?

What Stark said. By far and away the cheapest/easiest way to get a bit more growl is a resonator delete. I have a Ford Racing X pipe on its way to me for just that purpose (but will probably fit Milltek quad pipes too).
