I agree, I just want a nice rumble when cruising and a bark when I open her up. I dont want to annoy pedestrians, passengers or myself!
Yes, that's what I'll look for when I get mine. Something which is reserved/quiet when pottering about or cursing on the motorway but when you open the flaps (so to speak) it screams! Let us know if you find anything that suits.

Thanks

What happened to the days of cutting off the stock silencers and replacing with a 'cherry bomb' ?
How many of you on here have even heard of a cherry bomb?
This or fitting a de-cat pipe lol

I've heard of a cherry bomb...

My considerations when picking an exhaust involved not wanting to have to cut my stock exhaust, hence catback. Looked into the Corsa and MBRP street, then SteveP announced his one, it sounded great and UK built so decision made. Really would have liked the quad tip but not keen on the Roush rear valance so will go with dual. Not heard from him yet on the order however....

Only thing you need to consider is storing of the OEM exhaust and with it being in one piece, you won't be able to transport it home in the car if you were to get the exhaust fitted by a garage and think "oh this will go in the garage".

Oh yes! .... the old 'Cherry Bomb' - practically compulsory on all '70's and 80's minis :)

I'm pretty sure you can still get them, or at least you could a couple of years ago ..... I think it was Merlin Motorsport at Castle Combe used to stock them - couldn't be 100% on that, but I'm sure I saw them somewhere.

Storing it would be no problem but you are correct, where I had it fitted could be an issue. It would not be coming home in the Stang however.
Not wanting to cut the stock exhaust was more to do with making an ar*e of it however as I may just fit it myself - I have a pit and my father in law owns a garage with ramps...

You could always cut the stock exhaust, then sleeve it if you want to put it back on.

Depends what other mods you will do later on. At some point you may want to change to HFC or decats and will then wish you had got a full cat back. On my 350z I made the mistake of buying bits here and there for my exhaust and in the end it cost more than a true dual exhaust would have cost. Plenty of quieter cat back exhaust available.

If I get the sound right I doubt I will change anything at a later time. I intend fitting something on the induction side at the same time (probably an Airaid intake) and maybe a bit of a tune.

The exhaust is purely about sound, not performance.

Please don't turn the Mustang into the new Nova of the motoring world with ridiculously loud exhausts!

Make it nasty but classy!
:)
This isn't an issue as I don't believe it's possible to make a V8 sound bad. :D
