Interesting. I guess it's not that difficult for them to do. After all, didn't they used to have the Charger AWD with a Hemi? I thought they discontinued that because of lack of sales (due to how expensive it was, I believe).

One thing's for sure, that's going to be one HEAVY Challenger...

I think it makes a little more sense timing it with the new lighter weight platform they're working on, but still. Could just make it lighter. Not sure there's a market for the AWD version.

I actually rallied them against this earlier this year when I was invited to a panel discussion. I do realize though I am of the "old school muscle car RWD" fan club. They talked heavily about using a very nice torque vectoring AWD system, though. Let's just hope they don't do the other gimicky things they talked about, like "auto donut mode" and their idea of easily removable weight reduction at the track (bluetooth speakers, carpet, and front sway bar). Their windsheild track projection HUD was a cool concept, though. I am trying to think what else caught my eye...

The AWD R/T wasn't totally discontinued. What happened is it was seeing lower public sales, so it became a Law Enforcement package only. So..it's not gone, just not for general order.

The Hellcat and their V8 is the GT500's real competition on the Street. When we heard initial engine rumors for the GT500, a lot of Challenger references came up. Mostly, the 707hp Rating and how to "Future Proof" an 800+HP rating with Ecoboost technology. In fact, when thePill reported the "808" it was a response to "How can you beat the Hellcat's 707?"

The answer thePill got was "808".

Later on, a Chellenger refresh and "Cuda" was talked about with very little concern about the Camaro in the last year. Now we see a the S550, the Voodoo and an EB V8 coming, we know why.

Nothing can be done about a FPC V8 in Motorsport. At this point, Chevy prays the Mustang doesn't get any lighter. Next, the Coyote's design and flexibility overall and the Predator engines that we haven't even seen yet.

Ford wasn't a airing for the zl1... they remain hidden due to Dodge. They want the HP rating and I do believe, the GT500 will start using an AWD system eventually.

800hp needs AWD... even the C7 needs help at 650hp and 3600lbs. The extra weight will help some but not much.
