Has anyone out there purchased a 2015/2016 automatic transmission car and taken it out on a road course? I'm starting to have issue with arthritis in my left foot and if it gets any worse or always bothers after a weekend of driving on a road course I'm considering trading in my 2014 GT Track Pack for a 2016 GT auto and hoping I'll still be able to do well on a road course with the paddle shifters. I will have to add a lot of other upgrades to make myself a "performance pack" for the auto. I really wish they would just offer that. Here's the upgrades I'd be looking at (some I'd probably do on a manual car as well).

Order with 3.55's and maybe Recaro seats
Brake Upgrade
Strut tower brace
Springs, sway bar and maybe a few other suspension upgrades (probably do this on a manual anyway)
K-brace
Maybe try to add the extra guages
and of course better wheels and tires. Right now I run Contiental racing slicks anyway.

Any other suggestions?

The auto trans works pretty well on "S". rev matching, hold the gear, etc.....
My only concern on track days, is high trans temps, but you have a trans temp gauge on the premium package., so you can monitor the temps during your session. Also, you can add a trans cooler....Brakes are big, just need good track pads.

OP, I have similar issues with foot pain. Chose the auto for the same reason. Love it! I took my car to VIR this past Monday for an HPDE, and it rocked. Using track mode I found that the car actually shifted (up and down) as well or better than I could, so I ended up letting it do the work. So glad I made that choice (auto instead of 6mt).

Yeah, I was thinking trans cooler, the larger radiator eventually and maybe even an aftermarket diff cooler. I might consider starting with the stock brakes but would probably add the performance pack brakes later on. Assuming there isn't some weird reason you can't add them an auto.

That's what a friend of mine though in his Genesis until he figured out you could control the power band better yourself. Different cars, different trans but I think I'd be wanted to be a bigger part of driving than just gas, brake, turn :).

I'm hoping it won't come to this but I'm doing investigation now because over the winter I have a guy trying to trade me cars as it is.

Thanks for the comments.

I'm hoping to get in a track day on a road course next year. I'm planning to change to a more track ready brake pad, change the brake fluid to something less prone to boil and add brake cooling ducts. I really want to avoid any fade. If I really get into it I may move to a trans cooler.
