I wanted to post this here to see if I can get a faster response than the bimmer forum. Don’t know why when I posted the vids on YouTube it degraded the quality

I’m looking at purchasing this vehicle at an auction. When I start is it’s got a ticking noise and the coolant dipstick is broken off. I also took a vid of what looks like the crank pulley bouncing around. Is this easily fixable or skip it? The ticking Im hearing is low pitch slapping ticking not the high pitch. Unless both are an issue.

This is the link for the auction

Valve lifters. Fairly common with the N52. While you are getting those fixed, do water pump, coils, VANOS solenoids, valve cover gaskets and oil filter housing seal. Replace all external plastic parts, too. The engine has over 120k miles and you don't know how it was maintained, so don't take any chances. The N52 engine is good for 200k miles if you take care of it. But, other things will break and they won't be cheap.

I love BMWs. I'm on my 4th one. But, budget $2k per year to maintain it after you bring it up to par.

Yup, pricey to repair. The 128 is likely more reliable, but the 135 I had was awesome. Lots of issues and bad dealer service to boot.
