I know they don't dim on 400a. Can anyone with 401a pkg let me know if they dim? Say's if equipped in manual. Thanks!

I have the 401a package and the side mirrors do not dim. Only the review mirror dims.

Thanks for confirming! Also does anyone know if the BLIS system causes radar detectors to go off?

Thanks for confirming! Also does anyone know if the BLIS system causes radar detectors to go off?
BLIS uses K-band radar (24.05 GHz to 24.25 GHz) just like 90% of the other blind-spot monitoring systems from other manufacturers. Although, BLIS transmits a fairly low powered beam of radar compared to GM systems. GM systems make my older model Valentine 1 go nuts!!! I've had a Escort Max2 for a week now that is much quieter, but still gets alerts from K-band driver-aid systems from time to time. I haven't had my Max very long now to know for sure if Ford BLIS equipped vehicles set it off, but I do know that my Valentine only went off when I was right up on the vehicle.

It all comes down to raw-sensitivity and K-band filtering on the radar detector. A radar detector that has extreme sensitivity on K-band like the Valentine 1 with no filtering will be set off by blind-spot monitoring systems constantly. On the other hand, if the detector has a way to filter out the crap signals, then its possible to have BLIS with a radar detector on-board. Blind-spot monitoring systems use radar signals that are pulsed wave to measure distance while police radar signals use a constant wave to measure speed. This is an issue that radar detector manufacturers are currently working on since more and more vehicles are being equipped with these systems. Even newer model Valentine 1s have filtering algorithms on K-band to get rid of most blind-spot monitoring falses.

I will say this though. I'm not ordering the 401a package without taking a test drive with my Escort Max on-board with me. If it sets it off, 401a is a no go. I'll live without BLIS if it comes down to that.

Also, ACC uses a different band all together (77 GHz) for its function. Ford's ACC will not set off any radar detector.

Interesting thanks! I have a Escort Passport 8500 X50. Anyone else use a radar detector with 401a package?

That's a very good detector! Especially for its price. Make sure you have the TSR (traffic-sensor-rejection) setting turned on. Your X50 should have this setting option. This is the setting the filters out a good majority of the driver-aid K-band falses.

speaking of dimming mirrors.... is there a way to dim the rearview manually? I don't like people seeing me in my mirror at lights.
He also does not go out in the sunlight for fear of sparkling.

Side mirrors do not dim.
And it's called an "auto" dimming mirror for a reason. ;)

Just turn on the map lights, it'll cause the mirror to dim at night time.

One more question. Do the side mirrors tilt down when in reverse on 401a? Thanks.

Any way to stop the rearview from dimming (other than pull the fuse)?
I have 5% tint on the back and it still dims when a car is directly behind. Makes things too dark.

I have not seen them move when in reverse, so I would say they do not.
