AP Questions

I've had my Accessport (tuned by Adam when he was with MAP) and I've been playing with it more lately. But, there are a few things I can't seem to figure out, like the launch control and flat foot shifting. I was under the impression that they were inherently available with the AP. But, I can seem to figure how to use either. I watched a video on YouTube that showed how to set LC up, and to adjust the RPM, etc. But, mine doesn't have the menu that the guy used. Also, aren't you supposed to be able to do stuff using the cruise control buttons? I've tried a bunch of times and sometimes when I push one of (I think it was the cancel button) the tach needle moived to the 3K mark. I thought I found the LC, but I've only been able to get that result a couple times since and when I did, I tried flooring the gas and it immediately revved right past 3K, so obviously that wasn't it. Other times I've tried the needle will jump to the 1K mark. I'm thinking what I did was hit the button that would normally switch maps and since I only loaded one tune, it stayed on slot 1 (hence the jump to the 1K mark).

I've only been able to find a few videos that are specific to the Mustang, but like I said mine is missing some of the menus. If there are videos elsewhere, please point me in the right direction.

That guy in the video had a GT. EcoBoosts don't have the menu for launch control and all that jazz. (I looked for them as well)

Okay, when you pressed the cancel button, it went to 3K, yeah? That was the 5-way map switching mode. Your car was telling you that it was in map mode 3 which is medium-low performance. Press cancel and then the cruise Set +, or Set - buttons to change the maps. (Can be done while driving, or sitting still) There are 5 modes 1K to 5K. (1 is max performance and 5 is economy)

For launch control, push in the clutch all the way down and then push the accelerator pedal down to the floor. (Keep it in neutral if you're not gonna launch. Don't want any accidents) The car should revv to 3K and build some boost.

Flat foot shifting is the easy part to explain. Keep that right foot planted on the fun pedal and row through the gears. Flat foot shifting is always active to my knowledge. I haven't used it much.

Oh! Don't forget about burnout mode either. That's fun as well.

So, I can switch MAPs, even though I only actually installed the MAPerformance tune?

Also, I don't have to turn on LC, it'll just do it if I floor the gas pedal with the clutch in?

I was able to use the launch control while using cobbs tune by just flooring it, but now i have a new tune it needs to be set up again. pretty sure the tuner has to set it up for you. I already asked mine to just waiting for response. and flat foot shifting same thing, mine was set up on cobb 93 and is also set up on current tune I believe.

I see what you were saying. He was just adjusting the shift light RPM on his accessport.

To my knowledge, the MAPerformance tune has the 5-way map switching as well.

Ahh, with burnout mode, just hold the cruise "OFF" button while you're stopped, push in clutch, push down accelerator pedal and hold RPM at around 3500. Dump the clutch (still holding OFF button) and brake to hold the burnout. I need to try this more in depth.

It shouldn't have to be setup again. Clutch in, gas all the way and the car will do the rest. I tried a little flat-footing yesterday. Really a kick in the pants!

It has to be enabled in the tune, you can't set it yourself. The tune holds 5 map slots and each slot can have a different launch control point.

If you have a MAP tune, you will need to reach out to them to have LC/FSS enabled. IF you have an E-tune through me, just drop me an email.

Good to know. I do have a MAP tune, probably one of the last you did. I can live without until I get my etune.

Also, just to make sure, the MAP tune would be in slot 1, right?

Power tune is always in slot 1, unless you have an alternative fuel setup on another slot.

Cobb flat foot shifting is easier on the car than NOT flat foot shifting. It automatically cuts the rpm and drops it to where you are going to start in the next gear. If you don't use flat foot shift and just shift it fast your engine will still be dropping in rpm as you are going into the next gear and you will force the engine to down-rev because of gearing.

Has anyone noticed we have a estimated torque gauge on the AP. I maxed out at 388 lb tq on the gauge. Do you think it's estimating the torque to the wheels or to the crank?

This is mostly for a table lookup not actual torque. It isn't accurate by any means.
