Have you looked to see if you can swap out the OEM radio screen for one like in the premiums?

I've already contacted Crutchfield, they expect aftermarket alternatives to be hitting the market soon.

Be sure to checkout CarPlay via Apple, so far Alpine, and Pioneer are setup for it, with others soon to follow. Why better than Fords OEM INTERFACE.

Be that what ever system you go with maintains steering wheel controls.

I'm thinking about a CarPlay system for mine, even though I did get the 401A package. SYNC is "okay", but it's showing its age a lot now. I'd live with it if they had integrated Siri use, but they didn't. How hard would it have been to have a button you push that triggers Siri, I mean, seriously. The Shaker Pro sounds pretty good, so I'd be happy with a nice CarPlay unit, and adding the steering wheel control adapter and amp integration kit for the Shaker Pro system (or amp bypass, if needed).

That would have lost at least my sale...

Because of a way to trigger Siri when you want to? If you're a Droid, WinPhone or BB user, it wouldn't even affect you...

I wasn't expecting a dedicated button to that purpose, just an existing button that has multiple uses.

You think Mustang/Camaro divides are bad... I know people who (very, very geeky people) who will refuse to speak to people who own iPhones. Will break up friendships over it. And, yes, would absolutely refuse to drive a car that had a dedicated acknowledgment of the existence of iPhones built into it.

It's kind of stupid in my view, but, whatever. I've never owned an iPhone and never would, but some people can get out of hand with it.

You won't be able to swap out the head unit on a 401a package. Same is true of any Ford with the MyFordTouch system. At least not without a complete overhaul and custom install by car customizers and it would likely be extremely expensive. I haven't found any place that would do it though. I looked into it with my 2011 Explorer because that version of Sync was buggy and awful.
