I haven't added it all up (not sure I want to :D), but it was really quite reasonable considering that's it's the first year of a new platform. Prices for blocks, cranks, etc, are available on ford parts websites. You can get a stock shortblock for around 1500 for example. Bare block around 700. I get a really good rate on machine work, and do all of the removal, tear down, final assembly, and install myself, which all helps. We also did a lot of upgrades while it makes sense to do so, which adds to the cost. To simply replace the short block and get back on the road would have been much cheaper.

Holy shit 700 isnt bad at all for a bare block! Why the hell are SBFs still so damn expensive to build lol.

LSPI, as the name implies, applies to low engine speeds. Say, under 2500 rpm. Since we generally aren't looking for power that low, it's best to leave that part of all of the tables alone. Why a tuner would mess with things down there is beyond me. The same tables at WOT RPM however aren't concerned with LSPI, despite what they might be called. At that point they're just another of the dozens of factory limiters.
They are just ceilings, they need to be tweak to support more load if all other load limiters aren't clipped.

To be honest that's how much some ford dealers would charge for an extended warranty. Plus if you know how to assemble a motor yourself that's free labor for you.
