), but it was really quite reasonable considering that's it's the first year of a new platform. Prices for blocks, cranks, etc, are available on ford parts websites. You can get a stock shortblock for around 1500 for example. Bare block around 700. I get a really good rate on machine work, and do all of the removal, tear down, final assembly, and install myself, which all helps. We also did a lot of upgrades while it makes sense to do so, which adds to the cost. To simply replace the short block and get back on the road would have been much cheaper.
