USB is hardly intended to be used for quick device charging. IIRC, USB puts out .5 amps at most, which with devices these days is just terrible (ever tried charging a phone with the USB port on your computer?). Utilize bluetooth if you have it available and charge via the power points.

Might be what ill have to do. is there a way to have the radio not transfer to usb when you plug your phone in? Its irritating to have to mess with it every time.

That doesn't sound good. Sounds like the power point and Blutooth will be the way to go for us GS4 types.

I always use a good wall wart. The one I use every night charges at 1.2A. But I have seen them charge as little as .15A, or 150mA. At that point the phone would still be using more power than it would be taking in.

Go to play store and download an app called Current Widget. This will place a widget on one of your home screens that shows how much power your phone is using and when you plug it in how much power is being delivered from charging source. Experiment with different cords. you may find that power varies wildly from cord to cord.
