Amp install help please

So I have decided to do my first upgrade to the lackluster sound of the premium 9 speaker system by adding a sub and mono amp. After reviewing pages and pages of posts I cant find what in looking for.:frusty:

Amp- JL XD600/1v2
Sub- JL HO110RG-W3v3

So the JL amp claims no LOC is needed to tap into rear speakers (which would be easier) but wanted to know what wires to tap from the head unit before the amp for an un-processed signal. There are three sets of wire harness that go into amp. I cant figure which one is from the head and unprocessed and what color wire to tap (picture attached).

The JL is a mono amp so can i just get signal from one set of wires ie Right or left and which would be preferred? Or tap both channels, right and left rear? Or just take the signal from rear deck, Right ,left or both? Any help would be appreciated. I turn wrenches very well but can never seem to figure out audio.:shrug:

it's the bottom (black) harness plug, there is still a bit of processing before the amp but nothing that will effect a subwoofer. as opposed to working in that tight area with those tiny wires, I'd use one of [MENTION=20927]OEMRadio[/MENTION] 's harnesses that have female rca's on it for a low level connection, installs behind ACM (or stereo) here's the thread below

Although that appears like an awesome product for all out rewire and audiophile guys, I am just looking for a simple way to add the sub (for now). do you know which color corresponds to which speaker and polarity? Can I tap just right or left rear or should I tap both.

I just installed a JL Audio RD500/1 and JL Audio Stealthbox in my 2017 Mustang GT Premium with the 9 speaker system. I picked up my signal from the rear speakers and ran it through an Audio Control LC2i output converter and then in to the RD500. I also used the small blue with w/white stripe in the harness beside the passenger side rear speaker as a turn on for the LC2i and then the output of the LC2i to turn on the RD500. I am totally satisfied with the sound and planned to post my install for anyone interested in it.

One of my key goals was to install everything without drilling any holes and make it totally reversible in the event I decided to take it out. I actually pulled this off including an amp mount in the spare tire well.

I have created an album with some of the installation photos for those interested.

Doesn't the LC2 turn on automatically when it gets a signal from the rear speaker wire? Why run another wire?

Final choices

So, these are my choices
1. Tap into rear speakers before factory amp. Tight area for wiring.
2. Tap into rear speakers at the rear (which this amp allows) and hope for the best.
3. Run LC2i from rear speakers, which adds some adjustment for roll off at an additional cost.

I will do what ever will work best. Suggestions?:shrug:

Would like to get this done but I am an audio dumbass:headbonk: so any help would be appreciated. Sad that I can completely restore a car, ground up but can't figure out audio. I just like wrenches I guess.

It does but one thing I noticed was the fact that it doesn't turn off immediately after powering off the vehicle. Which means the amplifier did not power off as well since it gets it's turn on from the LC2i. I just got this strange feeling that it would be my luck for the whole thing to stay on and run down the battery. With the turn on wire in the trunk and considering I was already in the harness to get the speaker outputs it was a no brainer to hook it up that way.

#1 is possible without an LOC, but would involve running wires from the amp area to wherever your amp will be located. Probably least expensive.

Use of the LC2i would also require running power/gnd/turn-on wires... you could probably run one power wire from the battery to a distribution block and then power the amp & LC2i from that.

Both the amp and the LC2i have a remote control... the JL is a traditional level control while the LC2i's can be either a level control or a semi-eq depending on where you set the accubass dial.
