How long did it take from ordering to hearing anything from Ford? I ordered my car about a month ago and so far nothing. I'm guessing that's normal as part of the year long process :frusty:

Here's my experience for my GT

Sep 2015 - Placed Order. Was told to expect Sep 2016 delivery

Feb 2016 - Called Dealer to see whether I had a NSC code assigned to my order, which I did. I contacted Ford Australia via Facebook. Was told that my build dat was scheduled for Sep 2016, so estimated delivery Dec 2016 (sigh!)

April 2016 - Contacted Ford Australia again on Facebook to see if any change. Was told no change, but to check back in July

20 June 2016 - Contacted Ford Australia again on Facebook. Was given my VIN and told that my car was to be built that day Michigan time.

Once my car was on ETIS and shown as built, I then contacted Ford Service US via this forum. About a week after it was built I was advised that it had been transferred to Baltimore by train.

I'm now waiting for a ship, and per the shipping schedule on the ETIS thread on this forum, I go and take a look when I know ships are sailing and see whether my car has been loaded using the VIN on the 2WW shipping website.

So, as far as hearing from Ford?

Pretty much nothing that hasn't been initiated by me.

My advice is develop a good relationship with your Dealer, and have them advise you when your order has been allocated a NSC. Once you have that, you're able to track it.

I hope this was helpful

Thanks Frostee, your post is very helpful. My local dealer was hopeless so I bought my car from Wollongong. But I'll give them a couple more weeks and then ask for the code so I have some idea of where things are at.

Thanks again.

Because I've been lurking here since ordering it I wasn't worrying about contact from my dealer really. I did initially ask for NSC code when I read about Ford allocating first quarter orders by mid to late april. He told me not to expect it until late May. I waited til late June before asking again and got it within minutes of my email. So guess 3(ish) months.

Our Eco Vert was ordered in October 2014 and heard nothing until Oct 2015 when the dealer advised us that it was built in Sept 2015 and gave us our VIN.
First contact with Ford OZ came late Oct to advise when it was to be shipped and how to track the ship.
Downside was the wait - we were told between 14 & 15 months which turned out to be on the money, Upside was that we only had to wait a couple of months whilst it was on the ship and over xmas that went quickly.
Dealer gave us solid dates when he had them, no guesses - getting impatient just makes it go longer.
Only other bit of advice is to wait until you see and drive it before buying mods as they look and feel quite different when they're in your hands.

Cheers

I was very impressed with the ecoboost test drive. Dealer did not come with me so I got to try it out properly . So much so that I bought it rather than the GT I was originally planning to buy. Of course it's not as quick in a straight line but still has plenty of poke for my daily drive. I think mods might be after the warranty expires - unless of course Ford puts out the warranty friendly performance tune that has been rumored for about a year or so.

Just be aware, the cancelled order will most likely be a MY16 build, which means sync 2 entertainment, not sync 3, which you would have received with your original ordered Mustang and no spare wheel for the MY16, which you should have received with your MY17 order (I have read that MY17 EcoBoosts are supposed to have a spare wheel included as standard). Maybe a bit of negotiating room there ;)

Thanks, iam totally satisfied with the ecoboost performance,I wouldn't have got a mustang if it was only available in a v8,couldn't afford it to be honest.
Score! Excitement factor just went up 500%...

Michael Pentecost at Clancy Motors Bathurst has the Eco spare wheel if you are after one, I'm not keen on having the pump and can of run flat.

They're a great car
