Looking for recommendations for reputable aftermarket hood, either aluminum (w/o known corrosion issues) or fiberglass. I like the looks of Cervinis ram and Trufiber heat extractor versions. Which ones are a perfect fit on a 2017 GT? Did you opt for manufacturer to paint it to match factory color and if so, how was the paint job? Or should I take it to a good body shop? Is the DIY install simple? The downside is I read fiberglass hoods weigh more than stock aluminum, but by how much? Show pics of your aftermarket hood.

i got a cervini one i painted it here in Australia the fit and finish is excellent its on my 2017 GT
i fitted the rubber seal and washer lines no problems
i finished off mine by fitting some alum mesh in the opening
as an aside it cost probably 4 times what you pay in states

Morning!

For reputation, I've had a couple of Cervinis Hoods now and have no complaints other than weight. But, knew what I was getting in to. I did not get a chance to weigh it :-(

Fitment is really good, just may require a few tries to get it to lineup perfectly ( 2 man job obviously ) More your preference of looks.

I personally got mine done locally painted at a body shop. Just in case there was any adjustments needed for fixes.

Not a Mustang, but this is my current ride with their Cowl.
You can see in my profile picture my old '14 with the 4in Cervini Cowl as well.

Happy to help here at Lethal Performance when you're ready to grab the Hood! Feel free to PM me with any questions! Thanks! #teamlethal

I have the typical corrosion issue on my hood and I've been looking for aftermarket replacements for quite a while now. I wanted something that #1 fits right and will last, and #2 has a provision for installing the washers, and #3 does not require hood pins.

Just yesterday I ordered a Cervini GT 500 hood with their matching gas struts. There are so many variants in color codes it's not likely a pre-painted hood will match. I run a body shop and will paint the hood myself.

I like a lot of the other options out there but most of them require pins and don't have anywhere to mount the washer jets.

Cervino Stalker Hood. You can buy a grill for it on another website, or buy the ram thing to direct it to the intake. I have it open. Temps are down by a good amount.

Fitment is good. This hood does flutter in high speeds, but never broke and flipped up on me.

Cervini is a pain to deal with. If their customer serviced tells you “let me find out and call you back” you ain’t getting a call back unless you call them back again.

I am loving the GT500 hood, except for the added weight. Hood shocks are helpful for sure.
