So I got a 4ch to midrange/highs and 2ch amp to 2-10" subs hooked up this morning. Pick it up and to me it sounds worse than stock. The install place says they had to hook it all up to front two channels. Now I have zero bass coming from the front and the rear deck speakers are connected to the front. Subs are running off of the front also. I'm ready to uninstall all of this stuff and go back to stock as it sounds like a 1987 Krako stereo when I turn the sub down. No mid-bass in the doors any longer. They said that was the only way to run the aftermarket amps. Any suggestions?

Sounds like whoever did the install had very little knowledge of how to properly install and configure the equipment and did a poor job of analyzing your needs.

I see you have a GT Premium, (same as me) so you have the 9-speaker Shaker system, correct? For a stock system, it sounds pretty darn good, minus any real "thump". There's a decent amount of heard bass coming from the front "woofers" in the door but no real thump b/c there's no subwoofer. If you're used to having a sub (I am) the sub-bass thump is missing.

What I will be doing this weekend is installing a sub box and an amp in the trunk, and getting the signal for the sub off the rear speakers using a Line Output Converter (LOC).

In your case, I would suggest that is what you should do and leave the rest of the system stock. As I don't know what the installer did having "everything running off the front speakers" it's hard for me to troubleshoot other than to suggest you put everything back the way it was, and run a sub with it's own amp off the rear channels using a LOC.

I would definitely take it back and tell them you aren't satisfied... you are, after all, the customer and shouldn't have to pay for something that isn't to your satisfaction!

I have zero speakers running from the rear channels now. And yes, the stock setup sounds great, just not loud enough.

I went back and he did something. It sounds way better now. Still not happy about it just coming from front channels, but it does sound good though.
