I thought I’d try my hand at painting my badges today… I think they turned out really well, and look a whole lot better than the chrome version!

They both look good!

A: What did you do to the grill emblem? Satin silver? It doesn't look black in the photo.
B: The 5.0 looks really good! How the heck did you retain the red dot? Or, did you paint it by hand after plastidipping?
C: How did you get the emblems off and reapplied?

TY!

PS: Guess who else has been thinking about turning their chrome emblems black?

Plasti Dip is amazing to work with. You don’t have to remove them or mask right up to the emblem. Just basically mask a box around it. This pic is about 2 coats in, takes about 6 light coats. Remarkably, when you peel the overspray away it comes off in one sheet from the paint very easily, but sticks to the emblem. It’s freaking magic. I did cut a tiny square of blue painters tape to cover the red dot on the side emblems, and scored the coating with an exacto knife before peeling it away. There are a ton of YouTube videos on how to do it. The grill emblem is sating black too, just weird lighting I guess.

No emblem removal??!! Don't get no better than that! Thanks for the tips! :sunglasses:

PS: Saved me big bucks at Steeda! I can spend all that black emblem money on that carbon fiber gas filler door overlay I always wanted!:crackup:

SIG556 Love the wheels. Yu might want to put them in the Market Place thread for better more precise exposure.
