It is an adjustment to the sales price, so I don't see any reason for it not to be taxed.

I suppose that your right. I just had never considered this aspect of it previously. Insult upon injury.

Yep, 10k becomes 11k in commifornia.

Hopefully they dont use that value for the registration however!

Yep, 10k becomes 11k in commifornia. If you found one out of state, you might be able to work it onto a separate transaction however (big maybe)

Hopefully they dont use that value for the registration however!

In California you pay sales tax and registration based upon what you pay for the car. Period. That is before any reductions for rebates, trade in etc. If MSRP is $57,000 and you add on $10,000 ADM then the price of the car is $67,000. You would pay tax and registration on $67,000. Just like if your buying a GT at X Plan. $41,000 MSRP becomes $38,000 on X Plan- you pay taxes on the purchase price of the car $38,000 and not the original MSRP.
