So... According to the govt web-site, the maximum noise level permitted since 2016 is 74dB...and according to their data the GT is certified at...74dB! Presumably that's in quiet mode, or AM need to get a new noise meter as I'm sure they were reading well into the 80s and above with stock active exhaust! And of course at what revs, etc. Limit will be gradually reduced to 68dB by 2016.

yeah might be 74db at warm and idle lmfao!

My V5 states 87dB stationary at 3750 rpm and 75dB drive by. No info on how that’s measured.

I'd also question how accurate these DB meters will be... i mean heck, a DB reader i've used before just moving another size 11.5 foot back from made the reading drop 8db!

Not a Mustang, but my Lawn Mower is rated at 96DB, will I get fined every time I mow the lawn, or will it just be the front lawn being roadside!

Obtaining an accurate, roadside, automated sound level reading, will be nigh on impossible.
Wet roads can make more sound than dry ones, as do different road surfaces.
Filtering ambient noise such as music??
wind intensity and direction??

All that and more aside, say you get a ticket through the letter box. What? you'll have to pay a fine AND replace the exhaust?

I guess all AM exhaust systems of the near future will have to include active valving then!
At least until we all rush out in November to buy the new VW Golf EV...........

Alternatively, "they" could add a sound level test to the MOT, but there's no additional "revenue" in that idea.....

The idea of acoustic cameras is that they build a picture of sound, so they will be able to pinpoint where the offensive sounds are emanating from and what level they are at. It is worth remembering it is only a trial though and the practicality/reliability of the devices may not prove successful.

I had to laugh at the Auto Express article about them. Among the potential serious health risks associated with noise pollution is type 2 diabetes! I’m not denying there might be a link but I’d love to have that one explained to me!
