Okay guys so I know the whole ac issue has been posted multiple times but something weird has happened and I don't think it's the evap core. Although I wanted to get some input just in case because I'm no longer under warranty. So I was idling in my driveway for around 5 minutes after coming back from the store and noticed my air was not as cold. Okay so I figured once I got moving it would recirculate. Welp no luck. Basically its blowing room temp air on max but the compressor clutch is engaging. Is that normal when a evap core goes out? I also felt the low pressure side line and it is not cold at all. Hmmm. Theres no funny noises coming from under the hood. I was thinking of getting the system evacuated and then recharged to see how it would react. I'm almost thinking there is air in the system (due to a small leak) any advice? If I did not still owe on the car I would probably get rid of it... of course this happened around summer time in az :whew: help would greatly be appreciated. Car has 55,000 miles!

I am seriously just spitballing an idea here, as this may be irrelevant or a non-issue with the S550s. I had the same thing happen to me with my 08 V6 S197 back when I was living in FL. After bringing it to the dealership on three separate occasions, they finally decided to run a dye through the system to check fo leaks. Turns out that there was in fact a pretty serious leaks with one of the coolant lines that they somehow managed to miss on the first two inspections. So my $.02 would be to check all of the lines thoroughly and carefully to really make sure that there isn't a leak of any kind, as even a small one can seriously affect your A/C. That said, I am by no means an expert on the subject, just sharing what was done to fix my A/C (by Ford). Best of luck. Nothing like getting into an oven of a car on a scorching day with no means of cooling off :headbang:

Yeah I'm starting to think it's a small leak being that it has been working fine all year round until now. Thank you for the advice. I'm a bit of a DIYer and I've worked a little with ac but when it comes to these cars it always scares me of what I'll be replacing next on the ac system. Next I'll be using a infrared gauge to see if I'm getting any blockage and go from there. I was looking for punctures but I believe next step will be to get the UV dye put in. Hopefully they dont miss any leaks  I was also looking to get my system vacuumed just for the hell of it to see if it'll hold to verify if I have any leaks as well before I go out to the dealership and they keep my car for a week or longer!

Keep in mind if you start your car and the outside temp gauge is stuck at 50deg then the AC will not work. There is a page in this forum somewhere on how to reset it. Bottom line is you need to drive it for about 10min to allow the outside temp gauge to re calibrate. If that is not happening and like you said the AC clutch is engaged then perhaps you have a leak and the Freon has escaped. You can buy some leak stop at your local auto parts store or take it to a reputable local shop that can put it on a machine to find the leak for you. Should not be to expensive.
Better repair it now before the serious heat comes in the month or so.

Keep in mind if you have a bad evap core, Ford might contribute to repair it even if its outside of warranty. Some folks have had good luck in that case.
