I had a 67 mustang and a 69 cougar both with manual transmissions
and both kept bending the clutch rod,I ended up sliding a piece of pipe over it and welding it up leaving only the ball ends exposed
? is for anybody that had the same problem ,what was your fix?

When you say clutch rod, are you referring to the fork? Terminology may be different for older models and I’m not familiar with it.

If so - do you have a factory clutch (by This I don’t mean original, rather within original specs/ratings) or aftermarket? It aftermarket, it may be too stiff of a clutch for the thickness or metal type of the rod. Usually a stiff clutch requires an upgraded clutch fork.

The rod goes between the pedal assembly and the throw out fork
It looks like an oversized pushrod
The clutch was stock
