I myself caught the Mustang virus already in 1994 when I was in Florida and saw a Carany Yellow 94 GT. Bought my first one in 1995 (V6 coupe) and also owned a yellow 98 Cobra Convertible for 10 years. The 95 I still have, swapped a 5.0 into it from a 94 GT convertible that I then sold on with my old V6 in it.

So actually this is my 4th Mustang :D

I did consider the GT86/BRZ as well and also the 4 Series coupe. They were no match.

From GT V8 to Ecoboost ?
No I haven't daily driven my 95 since 2000. I just kept it as a hobby car.

But even if I had the EcoBoost would still have been a massive improvement over a 95 GT. The old 5.0's were slow as f*ck and only had 215 HP.

Thanks for the replies; it interesting to hear the stories of how people from other countries became Mustang owners.
Speaking for myself, my only previous Mustang was an '88' LX 5.0 with a manual, and at the time seemed really fast. Compared to today's cars it lacked a lot of the electronic nannies--ABS/Traction/Stability control--but like today's Mustang, was an excellent value.
Regarding getting the Ecoboost, we were looking at potential replacements for the E90 and were thinking WRX,Ford Fusion or BMW 2 series coupe.
The WRX was fun to drive but the styling was an "acquired taste"; the Fusion seemed ho-hum and the 2 series is incredible expensive with just a few options.
After driving a Fusion, just for grins, we drove the Mustang automatic and were very impressed. Our dealer had to find a manual to drive--they seem to be making fewer and fewer of them here --and the car was a ball to drive.
I think our biggest drivers were styling and value.
We were ready for a coupe and when looking at the few out there, the Mustang had by far the best looking shape. The Camaro looked boxy by comparison with significantly reduced outward visibility.
On the value side, the standard equipment list was extensive vs. the competition, along with 310HP/320ft.lbs.TQ---for about $25K US.
A 5.0 would have been a hoot to drive, but for what was important to us--comfort, fuel efficiency, style and fun to drive--the EB hits the mark at a remarkable price.
Well done, Ford!

Mustang EcoBoost MT Race Red EURO - NO MORE
Being my family a long time Alfa Romeo owners (Alfetta, 75, 156 and then the GT), when I search for a substitute for my 2006 Alfa Romeo GT the natural choice would be the new Alfa Romeo Giulia. First problem was that it was only announced and then probably it would not be cheap. I'm searching something in the 20-30k range, so for a car like that I need to wait at least 1 year to find some good used ones.
I never liked german cars, so I was stuck.. until ford announced that the mustang will be sold in europe!! Then the only thing that will stop me was the price. But at about 35k eur I can afford it. At the end it costs me 40k but it's way cheaper than all the other similar cars around here.
And even it's almost twice the money I would ever pay for a car, well... it's a mustang, and here it's an icon of american dream, american living, freedom, and a better life :)
