For me..the pricing of a new SS is outside of my comfort level..hell even the base GT is tickling the edges.

It's a big part of the reason I'm looking at low mile, last gen cars...2011-2012 Mustang GT's, 2009-2010 Challenger R/T's and 2010-2012 Camaro SS's. They can all be had with 30K miles for the low 20's or even high teens if you're lucky.
Absolutely so. For me, 45K (I got supplier pricing), I could not find another car that tickled the same feeling as the SS. NPP exhaust, MRC, A8. All the tech goodies. I think S550 is amazing. Nothing wrong with it at all for its price point. I just doesn't give me that feeling as much as the SS.

I had the same feeling when I drove the 5th Gen for the first time...I was in love.

I was all set to get a 2010 2SS auto in Cyber Grey..but Airport Chevy here in Medford wouldn't budge off a $10,000 mark up..that's what drove me to the Challenger.

If my local dealer had just given me what I was offering (MSRP minus $500) I would have been a Camaro owner...so obviously I wasn't as brand loyal then as I am now..bad experiences with tons of Chevy dealers have turned me off to the brand for the time being.

It also depends if the cars are on the lot. Near me are 3 dealers which show over 15 2016 on there listings as being in stock, yet when you go to the cars, all but one say there in transit. So dealers are putting down that they have them, but there actually not there yet, but coming.
There are finally starting to show up around the NOVA area...most dealers only had LTs to start and the SS they had were pre-orders.

It's one tool people use to make their decisions to deny that is....

Came to this thread for the venomous fanboys and was not disappointed. Brand loyalty to the point of foaming at the mouth is truly an indication of a mental defect.
Agreed...millions use them to make informed decisions. At the end of the day the average buyer is not going to be coming to a Mustang or Camaro forum. They are going to be reading magazines/magazine websites/USA Today/Consumers Reports/etc to figure out what makes a car better then the other.

Any average consumer reading the current Mustang vs Camaro stuff that isn't a diehard is going to see it's heavily in favor of the Camaro so that very well could influence their buying decision.

Im not an average consumer by any means. While i favor mustangs i would buy whatever is superior for the racing i do and it sure isnt the camaro. Your opinion of "heavily in favor" is as subjective as mine. Dont pass that off as facts.

I would have told any dealer that was charging above sticker to go F themselves. I would have done the exact same thing.

Dude. Easy hahaha. You are in the fringe minority. Very very very few people buy cars for their potential to go deep in the single digits down the 1320.

I wasn't rude about it..but I have sworn I'd never buy a car from that dealer...dated their parts delivery driver for about a year and a half though!

For me..my unfortunate encounter with them happened Labor Day weekend 2009..I took my custom ordered 2010 Challenger home from a local Dodge dealership on October 21st...I didn't have to pull teeth with them..

"Do you have an allocation for a 2010 R/T?"

"yes"

"Will you do MSRP on a base R/T auto in Dark Titanium?"

"Yes"

"I'll be there tomorrow"

It was that easy.

Im easy. You might be adding tone to text that isnt there. However its getting old seeing him say nothing postive about ford. I know im not an average buyer. But what one person feels is superior to someone else may not be. Its all subjective. He always puts a spin on it that the camaro is the bestest car that ever was. Its best for HIM. Thats what hes forgetting. To assume that "average" car buyers give two craps about what a performance magazine says is hilarious. They dont. Now the average casual enthusiast. Sure you bet. With that said, even being a casual enthusiast youre still a minority. Me being a hardcore racer, even more so. Either way both of us are minorities. So his idea of what the average buyer as a majority is, or does thats what hes misconstrued.

Mine was a very similar experience.

I think the average consumer would think that the Camaro is better because it is getting a ton of accolades that the GT has not gotten. I think that is all he is trying to say. But I could be wrong.

Does accolades help pay the payment? Does it help you have more fun in the car? Does it win races? Does it actually mean its better for every persons needs? Does it help you get to work better? Does it teleport the car to an island? Does it print money for the owner? Its as useless as those jd power awards.

To the average consumer, the accolades say "Car A is more fun to drive, it has more power, it gets better MPG, it has more standard equipment, it does A, B, C better, Etc." That does not mean a whole lot to enthusiasts like us, but to some who know no better, it does. When Chevy starts to run their ads saying, its won awards from A B C D, some are going to be like "hey, I want something that has won awards." Sad.....but very true.

I hate that shit. People are so dense. Also, for the love of god, people are far too trusting. Like businesses dont lie, or the president or the priest down the street.

Honestly..as a consumer...they should play up the Camaro's technology, thrill and heritage...

Talk about how it has a cutting edge chassis design, efficient and powerful drivetrain..((HYPE UP the fact that the A8 SS, with 460 HP, still can get 30+ MPG on the highway)) and it's motorsports background...show old Z/28's leading Boss 302's around tracks, show Z/28.R's running Laguna Seca and Road Atlanta, show COPO's roaring down the quarter mile in the NHRA...

And then casually remind them that they can go down to their local Chevy dealer today and buy into that thrill...

The old "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" formula.

A good example of a really, REALLY good pair of adds are the "Predators" commercial and "Dodge Brothers" series that Mopar is doing...
