I wouldn't worry about the the V8 going away, you'll just see the cost go through the roof. As always, the government comes in to make things "better" and it ends up costing us. In the future, the V8 will be for those with deep pockets.

Interesting concept, and you may be right.

Me? I fear it will be the 1970s all over again, where the eight cylinders all either have their power choked away, or are completely non-existent. Ford putting a ruddy V6 in the Ford GT, Porsche taking the glorious flat 6 out of my car and replacing it with a turbo four (and still increasing the price), and Ferrari and Mercedes both doing some combination of switching from eights to sixes, or downsizing the eights and fitting turbos (which kill the noise).

Today is a great day to be an enthusiast. Tomorrow, it's gonna be hell.

Trust me the noise of the twin turbo eight is not killed. It is gorgeous.

As someone who had a scat pack and now drives a base GT, I say get the scat pack. You already have a mustang. Get something completely different. You will LOVE the 392 hemi. Torque and horsepower for days. I really liked the interior of my scat pack, and the uconnect infotainment system is awesome.

Go drive one. If you end up wanting the GT, then I say sell your ecoboost and daily the GT instead. I just feel like you'll be disappointed having a weekend car that's 90% the same as your daily driver.

Well then you're going to have to just drive up here and give me a ride so I can see for myself. :D

I've driven various AMG 6.2L, but all I have to go on for so far for the new 4.0L twin turbo mills are YouTube videos.... and to be honest, it sounds lacking compared to the old 6.2 (even comparing apples to apples, videos).

Same for the new Ferrari 488GTB. Not that I can afford one, but after the sell-my-kidney desire for the 458, the new car leaves me utterly cold.

Attention Ford: THIS is how you do orange (No offense to CO owners, I just prefer the pearl on this).

2016/2017 Go Mango. Dammit. I want both one of these and a GT350. Anyone want a kidney?

If you want to cruise....

SRT. If you want a sports car: GT PP.

I bought my 14 in Dec of 13 for $42K. Ordered it. Got $3K in rebates. Talked the dealer down a little more. The 15's and 16's have some nice updates. My brakes are 4 piston Brembos. The 15's have 6 piston Brembos, a quick shifting A8 and a louder 2 mode exhaust. The 13-16' SRT's all have "adaptive suspension." Makes a big difference in ride quality. Handles/turns better.

I bet you can get one for $45K. I saved about $5K by skipping things I didn't want: Sunroof, Auto Tranny and Harmon Kardon Sound. I DD a Taco. This car is garaged and never gets wet.

I personally wouldn't get the same car in a v8. If you can swing it, trade in the EB and get the GT and daily that shit; you can also get the new camaro 1ss if you want...

I was on the fence as well.

My choice in order...

1. GT350
2. Hellcat
3. SRT
4. used GTR
5. 5.0 PP

I was lucky enough to get my 1st choice. Didn't even consider the Scat Pack.

Read this thread and decided to register as I've had some seat time in the Scat Pack. I'm lucky enough to live near a Budget rental car location that regularly gets performance cars. I've rented the 15 Scat Pack Challenger and will soon rent the Charger when they get it in. I can say that if I was not in the market for for a Mustang I would surely get a Scat Pack. For one I have kids and my 8 and 11 year old have plenty of room in the rear seat. The 8.4 connect system worked great and the A8 transmission was amazing. The 392 had plenty of power and the power seemed to be very linear and smooth. Braking was very good and the car handled well for a bigger car. The only thing that I did not like was the massive b pillars that obstructed the rear view. Very nice car for a cruiser.

FCA are completely behind the eight ball when it comes to the new CAFE regs (not to mention that the "F" in FCA has to comply with the much tougher EU regs). Unlike Ford, FCA has done nothing thus far to offset the MPG and CO2 targets of their cars (don't shoot the messenger on this one). Plus their profit margins are the smallest of the big three in North America, and they likely everything going forward will be based off the new Alfa platform.
This.

The next couple of years or so are going to be interesting for FCA.....

Challenger is just too big of a boat for me, I like smaller and sleeker cars. Either way OP, if you are road course racing, GT base with PP (if they do such a thing).
If highway bruiser, GT still... But Auto and get a hellion kit :D
