I have stock tires/rims currently on my 2015 Mustang GT, but want to go wider than the 255's for added traction.

Can someone educate me please?

1) Height; what do you gain/lose by going with a 20" rim vs. 17?

2) Thickness; a thicker tire rides smoother than a thinner one right? Why would anyone want a thin tire?

3) Width; I know I need a 9 or 9.5" rim to get much wider than 275. I'm thinking of putting 305's in the rear and 275's up front? Is the 305 the widest tire I can fit on this car?

4) Staggering; Does having wider tires in the rear rather than front hurt handling at all?

5) Rubber; I'm thinking of going with some Nitto's for tires; I won't be taking this car to the track much, but would like to try to get a run or two in see how it will do. It will soon have 800 crank hp, so I want it to be able to grab the road in wet/dry conditions. And it rains here a lot so IF I'm stuck in the rain I don't want to slide to my death. This will mostly be a sunny day/garage car.

You should move your post to the wheels/tires forum.
Doh! Doing now thank you!

*edit* how do I move the post to different forum? Looking for it now, not seeing it.
