Is the production date for the 2020 Mustang a moving target? I am old school and the new cars always started production in August and were introduced and released in September. My dealer is telling me that that is not longer the case and the new model production dates are now a moving target. He told me the date is controlled by Ford and depends on how many 2019's are still waiting to be sold. Is this just dealer speak in an attempt to have me buy my ordered 2019 that now seems to be delayed until mid summer? I don't want to buy a 2019 and then have the 2020's come out a month or two later. This is not a car that I NEED as I have others to drive.

So it sounds like my dealer is blowing smoke. Thanks Twin Turbo, I tried finding the FDND on Blue Oval News and found a link but the link content was removed. Can you point me to the FDNB?

On another note do you happen to know when they started producing 2019's? Mine was built in July 2018.

I haven’t seen where Ford has announced anything about the 2020 GT. I’m hoping they’ll do that soon so I can decide on what I’m going to do.

I found two sources: one said June 11, 2018, and one said June 13, 2018.

I believe it was the 13th as my sticker date shows 06/14, and I recall it's build started on day 2 of 2019 production.

A word of advise from someone that got a 2018 from the last building week.

If you really want the 2020, wait. But if you want the best incentives, order it soon. By the time your car arrives, 2020 will be in production and they will increase the incentives.

My order delivered in July 2018 and got $3,500 on incentives + $2500 from XPlan.

I don't know if this is any good to you, but the 2020 Fleet Preview has some details about the 2020 Mustang in it.

https://www.fleet.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/brochures/2019/2020_Fleet Preview Guide_Spreads.pdf

Something to peruse while you wait for the order guide.. like myself :)
Thank you!

Interesting info with regards the colors......Twister Orange is described as "Metallic tinted clearcoat"........those that have seen the GT500 in Twister Orange have described it as a non-metallic, so perhaps they're changing it slightly for production. Also, we knew that Ruby Red was being replaced, but it was described as "Red Hot" metallic in the GT500 spec sheet, but it's called "Rapid Red" metallic here. Not exactly the most exciting info for most people, but these sort of details really interest me :)

I noticed that but then they also have a thing by the colors saying an * denotes metallic colors and Twister Orange appears to not have an * by it. They phrase it as a metallic tinted clearcoat. So possibly it has a very small amount in the clearcoat that is not very noticeable?
