Consumer reports very much disagrees. Ford is above both for 2019 and VW is almost as far down as you can get. You may wanna look around. VW is not known for top quality at all in their cars even on VW fan boards.

So please, get rid of your car, so someone that deserves it can have it.

From personal experience and friends that have owned VWs, they were plagued with issues. My sister in law and her son both have VWs with several issues. What we don't see in this CR report are the model by model breakdown. I have owned 7 Mustangs in the last 9 years and have had no issues and that is driving them hard.

The OP has had issues and it troubles him. If one can afford it, no one should own a car he/she hates to drive or has a bad attitude about. Not worth it. Some cars are no assembled properly. In the case of my 1982 Mustang, it really irritated me for years that they made a car so crappy.

not particularly useful datapoint given this is 2020. Aside from just don't buy a car of that vintage...

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised that Ford is screwing up spring matings - ie. some MR assemblies have GT350 springs, some have GT springs, some have EB springs getting all jumbled up and mis-installed.
No, but the over all point still stands. I personally don't know a single VW/Audi owner that ever bought a 2nd one after the problems with the first. Meanwhile I know many Subaru, Honda and Ford owners that easily buy the same brand again. Hell I had a CVT Nissan Altima that had less issues.

I can total up the problems on my 2000 Escort, 1991 Taurus, 2003 mach1 and 2019 Bullitt and still have a lower number of issues than either my brother, friend, or other friend did on their GTi's or Audi TT individually. Same goes for my father and his F-Series trucks, my aunt with Subaru's, or my mother with Honda's. All werw much more reliable than VW/BMW. I cant name any brands other than BMW/VW that have so many repeated shows of horrible reliability. Sure panels gaps look amazing, but if its in the shop most the time, or leaving me stranded on the road, why do I care about that?

For that matter he better not buy a Tesla, they have been shown to have the panel gap to barely meet 1997 GM quality metrics.

So please, get rid of your car, so someone that deserves it can have it. The fact you think that price in anyway equals quality shows you're not a very smart buyer. Hell, Look at the $2,000 phones Samsungs selling like hotcakes that scratch with a fingernail.

Out of their 10 Least reliable cars, 2 are VW.
The key point on what your not understanding is vehicles from Ford like the Mustang are priced at unaffordable prices for the average person, I'm blessed enough to have to income to obtain vehicles in these price ranges but it doesn't mean I brush off issues that are clearly there. But you cant tell me a premium equipped Mustang GT or something like a Bullitt that cost 50k is considered affordable to the average person when these vehicles could be had for 20k cheaper just 8-9 years ago. The only thing I can agree on about anything with your statement is there might be reports of people having issues with their BMW's or VW in the past. but I can assure the level of service and customer service is way above Ford, something does fail or something wasn't right the first time they jump and fix it immediately, provide loaners and actually listen to you as the customer and address your needs. I wouldnt be so frustrated with my Bullitt if someone from Ford would actually step up and say hey sorry we built your car sloppy and charge 50k+ for it but we'll make it right but nothing they go silent. and I'm suppose to accept this quality for my money according to you, sorry dude I dont think so.

For my wife and our family vehicles we own BMW and VW SUV's that cost 40k and 50k+ the level of detail and perfection on these German engineered vehicles is A++ meanwhile for my weekend fun car (my 2019 Bullitt) Ford is charging a premium 50k+ vehicle where the suspension height is uneven, the window chrome is badly uneven and I have panel gap on a couple places on my Bullitt...HELL yeah I'm gonna complain especially if Ford wants to charge BMW prices but the car looks like it was built together by KIA.
I actually on my 17 mustang gt with the help of my friend. We fixed the gaps are selves got them to BMW spec. I even had a mustang guy noticed how tight they were and he told me that Ford Mustang tradition is wide gaps lol
