Forget about doc fees.

Of course they're profit. Dealerships are businesses, they exist to make a profit.

Just look at over-all numbers (including doc fees) to see where you get your best price.

My local dealers both charge the same doc fees. But they take so much off the MSRP, I'm still getting a great deal.

Not too far from you, the dealer in North Wilkesboro (last I checked) does not charge a doc fee.

However, as @NoVaGT implied, they're going to get you one way or another. It's the final number out the door that really matters. They can play whatever games they want to, to get there.
