Hey guys

I am from Australia and totally loving my car and the 10 speed auto is amazing. My car has done around 980 miles and my only question is when I had a 2016 GT auto, if I kicked down the throttle at any speed under 20 mph, the 6 speed trannie would kick down to 1st in either Sport or normal mode, but I cannot get the new 10 speed auto to do that, even if I am barely rolling at 5 mph, a kick down of the throttle will get it into 2nd, but never 1st.

I find that a bit weird and whilst a kick down to 2nd at "walking" speed with this10 speed trannie is still very good, it can never be as good as it could be if it got back to 1st.

Any of you guys experienced this? I wonder whether it might be a software issue and whether the Ford engineers have purposely designed it that way?

Is that just when you are in D or S or S with paddles?

Different transmission but if I am in S using paddles and come to a stop but don’t downshift it myself it will once and a while downshift to 3rd and stay there when I am stopped. Normally it would of course go to 1st gear. It does it a few times in a short span of time and then not again for months.

It does it when in drive either in normal or in sport plus mode and not when using paddles.
My 2016 model in the same circumstances would always kick down to 1st but my 2018 only kicks down to 2nd
Using the paddles overrides the problem but I should not have to do that......

When you accelerate at full throttle from about 5 mph in first using the paddles do you get significant wheelspin in typical driving/road conditions?

A possible reason could be because both first and second in the 10 speed are much shorter than in the 6 speed.
