I have a 2017 Mustang Premium GT, 6 speed manual, with performance package, I believe 3.73 ratio differential. My differential is damaged, limited slip is locked up. I can get a 2018 new differential. Will it fit my 2017? Will I need to change a flange or yoke to use it?

I would line up a shop to rebuild the one in the car or do it yourself. It would seem to me to be the most economical way out. With a few tools and the parts, you could pull it in the AM and have it back up and running by bedtime.
*DISCLAIMER: I HAVE ONLY REBUILT 9" TRAC-LOC BUT THE PRINCIPLES ARE THE SAME.

My car took an impact on the left rear wheel soon after I got it. Although visually there's no indication of differential case damage, I think there might be. At the price I can get the 2018-2020 differential I'd prefer to put the new one in, if it fits without much trouble.

The 2017 Mustang (With Manual Trans) took a different Flange than the 2018->Up Models.
Measuring inside the Flange
2017 Manual Trans = 112mm
All 2018->Up = 110mm

Can I put a compatible flange on the 2018-2020 differential so that it mounts and works in my 2017. Would I swap the flange from the 2017 differential onto the 2018-2020 differential to make it work?

The Flanges are interchangeable to the pinion shaft. Its only the driveshaft mounting that is different.
Either way you prefer would work. Both ways, you need to be careful not to crush the collapsible spacer any more & end-up with too much preload on the pinion bearings.
