I'm trying trying to decide on this vehicle. I have purchased one new vehicle in my life (almost 40 now), so I a bit disconnected from new vehicle pricing.

The vehicle is a 2016 GT with Ruby Red metallic paint.

Options include:

Ruby Red paint
Enhanced Security
GT Performance Pack
Reverse Park Assist
Voice Activated Nav
Shaker Pro Audio

The price I have been given is $39,936. MSRP is $42,565+ 900 Destination.

With 2017's out, is this a decent price?

hey can do better. My 2017 MSRP'd close to your car and I'm cheaper before adding private cash. Keep chipping away.

Edit, doesn't your MSRP already have the destination included already?

How, where? That's $10,000 off msrp! For that price, it would be worth flying out and breaking it in on the way home compared to what I've been seeing here in South Carolina.

Koons Ford regularly slashes prices hard under MSRP. My 50k car was 42k before paperwork.

Agree with this...bought a somewhat similar car from koons Baltimore, 2016 gt pp, my otd was 34,900, I live in nj. Yes they start with the wow price and then tack on some extra fees, but I still paid 2k less that local dealers in nj. They have some 2016s...

I got my gt pp premium (15) in october of 15 for about 36. I think you can do a lot better. I'd leave off the reverse park assist since they all come with backup cameras. The others are up to you, but i didn't think the shaker made much of a difference vs the regular premium stereo.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to leverage Koons pricing in my counter offer today. It looks like $35,000 is the sweet spot with the options I listed. I'm also eyeing a local used 2016 that can be had for under $35,000. It seems a bit on the high side, but it has nearly every option including the adaptive cruise control. Miles it right at 5,000, so while it's used...it's still in the new car pricing ballpark.

The only thing they were really able to do was to throw in a 10 year/150000 mile powertrain warranty. All of the dealerships within 100 miles are high priced, and none seem to deal at all. I went ahead with it, it may not have been the best deal...but the warranty will certainly help with the miles I plan to put on it. It's really not THAT much more than what Koons is getting for a similar optioned vehicle.

I'll be happy when I take delivery tomorrow. The vehicle is virgin, so it hasn't even been test driven yet.

Between my brother and I we've bought 4 Mustangs from Koons and gotten average to slightly better than average deals...overrated imo.
Whatever "deal" you see on line add freight, dealer fee, tax/tax at least. They also like to low ball on trades. Pricng usually includes at least one rebate than cant be applied with special Ford financing.
If you arent financing and dont have a trade, Koons could be a little better than average.

That's what my dealer warned me. An added bonus of living in South Carolina is, they cap the auto tax at $300 on vehicle purchases. I didn't have any extra fees, freight etc. tacked on.

D&D ford treated me well, were extremely pleasant and very knowledgeable. They have an extremely reasonably priced service department. As far as dealers go, they get a pretty sparkling good review.

I'm happy. The cheaper taxes likely put me in an out the door price comparable to others across the country.

Considering you live in Maryland, I understand. I'm not entirely sure why but prices are at least 3-4K less in Maryland or Virginia. I live in Ct and bought from Koons Sterling Ford in Va, flew down and drove back. Up here after shopping around dealers regularly told me to go buy down in Va because we cant get near that price.
Bought a 16' base GT auto, sticker was $34,490 and I was out the door, taxes and reg for $30,600 after a few rebates and $750.00 private cash. Connecticut has a 6.35 % tax rate as well. Their prices are great just depends where you are from.
