A "willing" and eager engine for only 800 more sounds like a good investment even if it's a stretch. And the flip side is that fuel economy is actually better. And handling over the V-6, too, since it will be lighter up front.
The 2.3EB will make the car, it'll be fun rather than just an appliance. And most likely a keeper.
If your friend worked on this engine, he should be proud.

And while you're on the phone, find out what that engine is in the GT350! ;-)

Seriously, he would have or should have been told not to say anything that hasn't been announced. equivalent to the 2000 R.

The $800 isn't the issue. My main concern is that I keep cars for a long time, and I more concerned about long-term reliability.

I'm currently leaning towards the EB.

The EcoBoost durability testing program is by far and away the best testing that Ford has ever done.
Crappy transmissions like the MT82 can put a dent in the reputation... but a disaster with the EB would by a drop dead killer for the entire strategy and the company because such a high proportion of production is now EB.

So far I've only seen GT's with a 5.0 fender badge, no badges so far on the V6 or the EB. Shall they get one?

As far as know Ford hasn't used a fender badge on the current V6. It would be relatively easy to add from the aftermarket. There's a nice 3.7 badge available, I'm not sure what would be available for the Ecoboost - possibly a 2.3T badge.

As long as people don't fit the awful fake Buick port holes I'll be fine...
