2015 strip show hangover

2 questions for you guys...

1. Did you want to see it "revealed" this early?

Might seem like a stupid question but I dont think any of us, when Jarstang said they were going to show the face of the 2015 that it was going to be the ENTIRE front. Did you want a slower tease? We do have many more months to go before it's available.

2. Where does Ford go from here?

Some people probably got fired or maybe they just shrugged and said what can you do. I'm sure there were planned events and some planned spy photo teasing by Ford. Do you think they show more or less now that the cover is blown? How does it affect 2014 sales?

I was getting sick of all the same covered up test cars we were seeing so I'm glad (and surprised) we went from knowing next to nothing about it to seeing arguably the most important part of the design.

I'm sure Ford had this all carefuly planned out.... with a timeline for teasing it all out. Hopefully this doesnt mean they clamp down and we see nothing else for the rest of the 2014 sales.

I basically share this sentiment.

The unveiling of information thus far has been slower than a turtle's pace. Sure, we've had rumors and every now and then a new render but all of our information and debates were based on, well rumors and debates. When you're hearing every rumor under the sun and many that contradict one another it almost starts becoming an exercise in futility talking about the car; and that takes the fun out of it.

I am extremely glad we got to finally see something. To be honest if we had a better idea of when this car was actually going to be available we might be able to give a better opinion on if we think the time release of information is good, bad, or somewhere between.

Sales of the 13-14 haven't been that great, although the Mustang is doing relatively well in the segment. I understand the line that has to be walked with not losing sales on your current product.

In any case, I hope to hear more accurate information. I like seeing the stuff but the knowledge about the specifics of the car is where more of my current intrigue lies. How downsized of a car are we actually looking at? How much weight loss, if any? What new technology? Potential price point? These are the kinds of things I hope we can do better than just rumor on at some point soon.

While the 3 year lead time for the Camaro revival killed some of the joy for many, which is what I think OP is getting at, we really have only seen a very rough unfinished first quarter of the car and not one without some controversy.

There's still a lot for them to show and a lot of questions so I don't expect Ford to all of a sudden just go into hiding. All in all, I'm glad we saw it.

How will it affect 2014 sales? I'm not sure it does. It definitely gives people plenty of time to buy the last of the s197s if they were really disgusted with what they saw. I have a feeling that the majority of people didn't react that way. On the other hand, more news and more hype about the 15 can't help.

I'm thinking now, that we see prototypes of the real thing, at least one trim level at one of the bigger car shows late this year or early 2014, like L.A., Detroit or N.Y. and I'd love to see something at the SEMA show in November in Las Vegas! I know Ford has a huge spread planned for SEMA.

I was just told from someone I know personally at a dealer that 2014 sales wont end until July of 2014. Doe that seem accurate? I really don't want to wait a year to get one of these.

13 sales were better than average, but as soon as the camo s550 arrive on the net it did hurt the 14 sales. The front end of the new mustang will either attract new buyers or it will drive the buyers to the remaining S197's. Simple as that. I think these new pictures might help sales of the current car somewhat.

I don't think so.

Considering a several month re-tooling window in addition to taking anywhere from 4-8 weeks to deliver a freshly ordered car, you'd be looking in the ballpark of November for initial deliveries of S550.

Seems really unlikely to me.

No way it's that late. I predict s197 sales will end in the first few months of 2014 at latest. No way it goes until July. Like HG said, deliveries wouldn't be until almost the winter.

So if you had to guess a month on the delivery of the 2015s what would you say?

Ford is probably regrouping today after that huge leak. I would def expect them to have a plan in place for situations like this.

Do we see the front covered up again for the next set of photos? Probably.

The thing is that if you look at the spy pics we had before these and match it up with these new ones you can't really see a connection. The camo is too good. So it should not affect their plan with undressing the car.

On another forum a member claimed he worked for a company supplying rear CV joints and cited his company has a production start of June 2014. He also said to take that with a grain of salt and it doesn't necessarily pertain to when production of the car itself might start.

However, if indeed his company is producing the production CV joints for the car, that certainly to me would say we shouldn't expect to see it on lots until late Summer or early Fall. I really, really hope this doesn't turn out to be the case, but it's about the only information I'm presently aware of that hints at a timetable.

Of course I wanted to see the camo come off. Teasers are nice for Ford to get more people interested and to sustain current sales.... neither of those apply to me or most of us.

I'm not looking for a 14 and I'm already tuned in to 6G news... I just want some solid specs to come out so I can make a real decision here.
