I will try the radio power button with my base stereo and report back.

As for drive-ins, we've got plenty! Some closed over the years but the current ones really go for the retro appeal. The projectors are pretty good, and if you park in the front row, the picture fills your windscreen. Sound is awesome, because the FM transmitters work well and even the base stereo sounds great. (I first saw the original Jurassic Park at a drive-in, and this past week saw Jurassic World at the drive-in. The dino sounds are enough to make you jump with the stereo turned up.) Plus, it's a good deal. The drive-ins are the last theatres around here to play double features, two movies for the price of one.

Drive-ins nearby in southern Ontario include the Stardust in Newmarket, the Five Drive-In in Oakville, the Sunset in Barrie, the Starlite in Stoney Creek, the Mustang in London, the Can-View in St. Catharines, and one right downtown Toronto at Polson Pier (aka The Docks.)

I have been twice in mine...just take a radio next time and sit outside. The radio combined with everyone else's sound will be more than enough!
That always looks like fun (tailgate party at the movies) but DAMN the mosquitos! :D

SURELY somebody at Ford has taken their car to the drive-in movies. Surely somebody at Ford likes to go to the beach and listen to their stereo with the doors/trunk open. Surely I'm not the only one?

I am so glad I checked into this thread.

I haven't seen a drive-in in So Cal in years, that is used for movies anyway, but I have this problem when I wash the car. From spray down to final touches takes around 2 hours and I have to get in and hit the power button several times.

Now that I know the "secret" about the radio power button, Gold!
Who would have thought that button would be hot w/the power off?

Cheers!

In my Nissan (Company Car) I can turn this feature off so the accessory power stays on without timing out

Mustang NO LONGER THE WORST

:clap2:

....and it works! As mentioned, just press the radio power button. No accessory power required. Thanks all!

Please resume your drive-in movie watching. Nothing to see here, move along...

Why aren't you outside on a blanket on the hood/truck of your car with a radio?

Best car for drive-ins? '71 Torino station wagon. Back into the stall, put the seat down and lie in the back with pillows and popcorn. Of course, a blanket was necessary to have fun with the gal. :)

Haha. I had one drive-in experience.

I was a junior in high school...Durham, NC. There was this small drive-in (I believe it was called Star) that occasionally showed porn. My bf (wild preacher's son) and I got in with no problems. I remember there were not many cars, and the drivers I could see were solitary "older" guys.

Porn, at a drive-in! In NC!

I didn't know drive-in movies still existed! I know there's none around these parts of Houston (or if there is, I've never heard of it or seen it like at all)
I'll stick to AMC where I don't have to restart the car 10 times in 2 hours and instead enjoy weird sticky floors, crying babies, and the asshole behind me who likes to provide commentary the whole entire movie

'72 Econoline van ... ugly shag carpet and all. Best drive in vehicle there was. ;)
