Well then it looks like my mind is made up!
I'll wait till the mustang is updated with a flux capacitor and hover mode in 2037. Seems logical

I think a lot of the speculation comes from people's natural desire to justify why they need to wait for the next model year. Also some of I'm sure comes from people's anxiety that someone might have something better than them in just a couple of years.

IMO, get over it and enjoy the open road!

My advice, if you keep waiting for the next best thing, you will forever be waiting. cause, there is always going to be the '17... and then what is in store for the '18? Then we have to wonder about the '20. next thing you know, its 2065 and you have been waiting for the hundred year car, but the 2066 might be better....

This. At some point, you buy in or you spend your life always waiting for the next best thing. I'll buy in now and, where there's a big enough advancement, I'll trade it in. Next year, or 10 years ((as was the case from 93 to 03 cobra).

The longer you wait, the closer you are to a full refresh. That would gnaw at me more than missing out on an infotainment upgrade or a new paint color.

I think DI will only be worth maybe 25hp if that. Can anyone recall an engine going from TPI to DI and gaining?

I have heard people claim 35hp but I can't recall an instance where that happened.

If that is true, then the Voodoo can also go DI and see similar gains no?
That's basically what Porsche's 3.6L gained with its facelift in 2009 when they introduced DI. It was 20-30hp.

Get in on the new car action early in the game so you get to show off the new bits across the board. Use that platform to modify and upgrade what you want, get the attention and what matters, then rinse and repeat.

Just don't hop into a car that's fully refreshed but carrying an ancient engine when there's all but concrete rumors of something much better coming up down the road *cough* S197 *cough*.
