Any one that got the 19 or 20 inch rims have a big problem with potholes and them getting bent? Living here in Chicago having a mustang as a DD the potholes are bad. Only asking because my current car the maxima being 19 inch rims have gotten severely bent and cause a bad ride.

Looking towards ordering a mustang gt and I'm curious to hear what anyone has to say. Trying to decide between the PP or not

Thanks

If you hit any pothole hard enough with any size rim you stand to destroy the tire or rim or both. Maintaining a 35 side profile will provide you enough protection against just about any pothole at a reasonable speed - I've hit several (sucks) with 275/35/20 and 315/35/20. No damage to the wheels.

The tire size you mentioned is that the stock tire from ford for the 19 and 20?
Sometimes you can't avoid the pothole because you see it to last minute :(
I was thinking about not getting the PP and doing the 20 inch rims

No what he listed is not stock. The PP is 255/40/19 Front and 275/40/19 Rear tire size (on 19" wheels of course).

He has an aftermarket setup that looks aggressive and badass. Usually stock tires are something 255/40/19 or 255/40/20 Pirelli P Zero Nero All-Season tires. (I think)

Stock PP wheels on the GT are 255/40/19 and 275/40/19. Plenty of sidewall to take an impact - at a reasonable speed. Hit a big pothole at highway speed and who knows.

Edit. What he said! ^^^^

I have stock 20" with 265/35/20 Pirelli P Zero summers. No potholes yet. I had stock 20s on my 2013 Taurus and never had a rim issue. In the suburbs tho so I don't hit the downtown pot holes alot.
