In anticipation of one of our upcoming 18" track fitments, we cut a one-off forged version of our 18x10.5 et48 FF15 to test fit on my 2015 GT PP. Dimensions, barrel etc will all be the same on our FlowForm versions we will start receiving by Feb 2015.

As stated before in our Official FF15 thread, the 18x10.5 will be the hard core track set up for the Pro teams and serious weekend racer. It will need the following to work.

  • Ford Racing Hub kit with 3" ARP studs, FMS-M-1104-A or ARP studs can be installed into any existing OEM hubs P/N ARP-100-7722. Matching rear studs are available P/N ARP-100-7723.
  • Open ended lug nuts
  • 13mm to 15mm wheel spacers (width depends on tires)
Or Cortex Racing will have a full coil-over set up in which the struts are located in board more and should clear the 10.5 et48 with no spacers. TBD.

Of note: We will also have a more mild 18x10 et40 set up to run on all 4 with NO spacers needed. With this set up you will still be able to easily run 285 or 295 R compound tires.

In either case, here are the pics to show the fitment and clearance. Due to the loss of 13mm of stud, I did not want to tighten the lugs and drop the car down out of fear of stripping the threads. Of course the rear needs no spacer so I did mount it and drop it down so you can see the fitment.

Tire is 295/40 18, and the front has an 13mm spacer leaving the minimum clearance of 3mm between the tire and strut.

P.S. For those that have been asking about our 20x10.5 et45 FF01 on the front. I tried that too, and you need a 10mm spacer to give the needed 3mm minimum clearance between tire and strut.

Haha, thank you sir! You were one of the members I was thinking of when I added the P.S. ;)

Here are the pics from the 20x10.5 et45 up front with a 10mm spacer. Of note...that is a 3mm spacer I was able to slide in between the tire and strut to show the needed 3mm clearance.

that looks good.

what is the effective offset then? +35 ? what tire size is on 20x10.5? does it poke out? does it need camber to tuck in fender? is the veh lowered?

sorry for the million questions

The sky is falling!!!! Wheel spacers!!! Tin foil hat engaged..... Ford didn't design this mustang for wheel spacers, the entire strut will come flying off if I uae wheel spacers, the ball joints will explode, killing hundreds of people instantly the first time I turn right!
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

I know it's ridiculous, but those people will be in here!

Badass set up in all seriousness

Yes, for the 20x10.5 et45 that I posted above, it would effectively be an et35. It had a 285/35 20 P Zero on it. It should sit nice and flush, but I did not want to tighten the lugs and drop it down because I was only able to get 2.5 hand tight turns on the lugs. Didn't want to risk torquing them and strip the threads. Yes the car is lowered with Eibach Prokit.

Haha, yeah everyone will have their own opinions. The truth of it is; some of the race teams will be running the 18x10.5 et48 set up and Cortex Racing will be selling them as well as they will have their coil over set up that will more than likely not need spacers. Oh and of course there will also be the 18x10 et40 that are straight plug and play on all 4. :D

Great stuff, 18x10 all around will be a nice non staggered track setup.

From what I see a 295/40 NTO1 is the best size for this setup while maintaining decent overall height.

They also have the RE11 and R888 in a 275/40

Yes, this will be a great set up with no additional mods needed to run it. You are right on the tire sizes, some will also choose to run shorter than OEM height, like 285/35 18 and 295/35 18.

Yeah going down to a 35 series will open the doors to many more tires, especially the RS3.

Our car is arriving the first week of February so I haven't been able to be too hands on. Do you know if you can change tire size in the main display?

Are you referring to our cars menu display...being able to select different tire sizes in order to recalibrate speedometer, odometer, trip etc? I don't think so, but that would be amazing!

Exactly!

Back in 08 I purchased a VW GTI which allowed you to change the wheel size. Such has going from 18 inch wheels for summer to 17 inch wheels for winter.

Looks like it hasn't caught on:doh:

No problem! As far as space though...actually a bit more room to work with on the S197. For example, I just test fitted that same 20x10.5 et45 FF01 with 285/35 20 up front on a 2014 GT500 last week, and it fit no problem with no spacer needed. So in board on the S197, there is around 15mm more room to the strut body. The rear however does have a bit more room to play than the S197.

I love the look of taller rubber and less wheel. I wish HRE wasn't quite as expensive because those wheels are nice looking. Such is the price of luxury I suppose.
True, they are not cheap, but well worth the coin. A comparable one as far as quality, weight and price is the BBS flow formed wheels that were made for the Pirelli World Challenge Mustangs. As they say...you've got to pay to play. ;)
