tested quite a few wheels today with offsets ranging from 30-45 but that's not the issue the actual inner rim barrel does not fit over the caliper as it is HUGE.

just giving everyone an FYI

i had to buy 19 staggered Blizzaks today for the winter which sucks.

It depends mostly on the wheel design/manufacturing process.

For instance, Forgestar confirmed that the 18" CF5s will clear the GT PP brakes. Because the wheel is flow formed, Forgestar is able to produce the wheels with thinner material on the barrel, which gives it just enough room to clear the GT PP brakes.

However most 18" standard cast wheels will probably have fitment issues

Also does anyone know if the new mustang has the ability to change tire size on the center display?

The inner barrel along with spoke design is whats going to determine if they fit. Right now we know that the Forgestar CF5's fit and HRE is making a set of 18's that fit as well.

On this new chassis running 18s say 18x10 and 18x11 I'd need to run a 305/40 over a 305/35 for example?
Up front, when installing big tires you need to consider clearance with the strut's spring mount. I don't know exactly what fits.

You mean for speedo calibration? I seriously doubt it. You would likely need a tuner for that.

What a shame

Seems stock sizing is a 27 inch tall tire. On the 18 inch or wheel they are running a 50 series!

There is no such thing as '50 series'. The aspect ratio is tied directly to the width so a 235/50 has nearly the same height as a 285/40. For track use you can go with a shorter tire for extra clearance without any issue. Sure the speedo might be off but that doesn't matter much on a racetrack.

Ofcourse, I thought "series" was the correct terminology for it. I just meant that the 27 inch tall tire is what ford is using and in order to make the oem 18s work they used a 50 series tire to raise the height.

The good news is you don't have to match the stock tire heights if you don't want to. I would wait for shops like Vorshlag to run some 18" tires on their cars to see what works best.
