Ok so weird question but Im going to ask anyway. Ive got a base GT and Im heading to dominion raceway for an HPDE event next month. I dont want to run the factory tires but I do have a spare set of 5zigens that came off of my Evo 9. The size is in the title and they do clear the brembos on an evo so Im sure they will clear the 4 pistons on the mustang. What would be a good tire size to run on the mustang that wont make the car look ridiculous. And if you guys think this is just a stupid idea let me know that as well lol. Thanks

Very interested to see if they fit, but I do think they'll look silly. The 50 aspect 18" tires are already chunky enough. If you want an idea of what it looks like, find a picture of a base V6 or EB with their 17" wheels.

Not a stupid idea to save money if you've already got a set of wheels, but I think I'd be kicking myself at the track day or auto-x wanting something wider for more grip.

Look at a F1, IndyCar, or NASCAR if you think anything but a 20 to 35 series tire looks funny.

I agree with Julian, the real problem is 8" is far too narrow. Plus I doubt a 17" wheel will clear the standard 14" brakes on the GT. The early Evo's at least had only ~12.8" rotors. And I can't recall anyone fitting 17" wheels over the 14" s197 Brembos.

It'll be a slight possibility but most likely because it's not a high disk 17" it won't but who knows we may all be proven wrong

Would would have to agree, we are always looking for more grip and how about less movement from that 50 profile tire when going through the corners.

We would recommend to save your money as well and setup it up right. The 17" size also puts you in a position that even if it clears the brake caliper from a back of the spoke perspective, but not the inner diameter of the wheels.

Hope that helps.

The other issue isn't the xfactor as much as the fact it's a 8" wheel such as Jurrian and Grintch1 stated

Go wide my friend 18x10 is a sexy sweet spot for a wheel
