Awesome stuff, thanks mate! going to try this soon, its been bugging me for a while hahaSure. Its 3/4" HDPE. I bought it on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Mari...-Sheet-3-4-0-750-Thick-Textured-/143353709199
As for the splitter, here is a good side by side comparison of how I lowered the splitter a bit. I applied heat along the red line in the second picture. Be careful not to heat too long or the plastic will become and stay shiny. Essentially I heated until it got pliable (slight shine), then pulled down (while it was attached to the bumper).
Where did you get the black pony from? Everyone I find doesn't have any mounting hardware.Couple updated shots. Added the gt500 side skirts to help match the width and lines of the front end better.
If you scroll down on the first page, there are some pics of how I did it. Used the ford Pony and epoxied some screws on it.Where did you get the black pony from? Everyone I find doesn't have any mounting hardware.
The 777 and the Ikon are the same. Fitment around the headlight could have been better on mine...the bumper was barely holding on to one of the headlight tabs.Great information! Looks terrific! I’ve seen some postings about the bottom open air vents blowing out the wheel well plastic at high speed because it is not attached well. Thanks for that recommendation. The need to further engineer this is not well marketed (of course). I pulled the trigger on the 777 version just now because I have read the fitment around the turn signals is better but also have seen a fitment issue on a headlight with the 777. Seems like it’s going to be a potential problem either way? I am going for strength and it seems the 777 one is stronger if connected correctly and air flow issues are controlled.
How have the “wrapped hockey sticks” held up against rocks and weather? The 777 and the Ikon are the same. Fitment around the headlight could have been better on mine...the bumper was barely holding on to one of the headlight tabs.
They have held up well, but I also don't drive much. Only 9500 miles on the car and maybe 3k of those were with the bumper. How have the “wrapped hockey sticks” held up against rocks and weather?
They look great. I have the same wheels on order, except in bronze color. What size tires did you go with? The wheels are Project 6GR Ten. 20x11r and 20x10f. The fronts normally have spacers on them, but I took them off in these photos. Going with slightly larger spacers/studs to push the wheels out further - just need to get them installed and do some fitment testing.
Getting my bumper next week. Can you tell me how much of this black board do I need to purchase? (Saw they sell it in a bunch of sizes)Sure. Its 3/4" HDPE. I bought it on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Mari...-Sheet-3-4-0-750-Thick-Textured-/143353709199
To make them, I used a track saw to cut the hdpe at a slight taper (I don't recall exactly what it was but it was probably 1/4" to 5/8" from one end to the other). Then I used a heat gun to bend them to match the contour of the wicker splitters. Used different sanding disks to get rid of the texture in the hdpe.
