check engine light with JLT CAI

Hi all,

Any body getting the P0442: EVAP system leak detected (small leak) code with their JLT cold air intake and Bama tune set up?

I have tried clearing the code 3x, triple checked all fittings, tried both street and track tunes, I even took off and reattached the whole intake, but the code keeps popping up! I already had 3000 miles on this beast before installing my set up. Any thoughts?

Hi all,

[FONT=&quot]Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having! I've had identical codes like this after a CAI install and even though you triple checked for leaks I would take another look![/FONT][FONT=&quot]

[FONT=&quot]The code being thrown is very common and typically seen it when your gas gap isn't tightened and it literally means "small leak" I would recommend double checking just to make sure you're not missing a small connection and if it's still acting up were here to help![/FONT]

Find the purge valve and line and make sure they are connected and not damaged.

Thanks for the input guys! Purge valve seemed ok. I checked all connections once again and even re-did them. I deleted the code, so hopefully it doesn't pop up again.

The one thing I think is causing the leak is from 1 of 3 the connection pieces from the JLT. It wobbles a lot and honestly the whole intake is poorly made. I really regret purchasing this intake and wish I would've held out for the Steeda or some other company. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks again...

That's what I thought at first, but this is how kit came out of the box. Also the piece will not go in any further b/c of the ridge. I actually did message him a few days ago, but he only said check all the connections again and asked what tune I had, then never responded back. I appreciate the help...

fgonzales11b - I can't say nice enough things about Jay and Lisa - They're really nice folks and he's more than happy to get you some tech support on this!

If for any reason he thinks that it's defective let him you're working with Alex at AmericanMuscle, shoot me a PM with your order number and I'll have a replacement shipped out for you overnight no questions asked!

The last thing I want is for you to be unhappy with their Intake as I've ran them on literally all of my Mustangs. I even had their prototype '15 CAI on my desk for a while as well and I can definitely attest to the build quality!

American Muscle and JLT I am SO IMPRESSED! You guys are the reason I'm buying a Mustang. I'm coming from a Jaguar XKR with minimal aftermarket and zero support. The jag forum I'm on most issues go unsolved but here at Mustang6g I repeatedly see American Muscle, JLT and even Ford themselves offering advice solving problems and answering practically every question that comes up.

This level of excellence in customer support is unheard of with other makes/vendors... Great job to all!

American Muscle is deeply, deeply rooted on the forums which is why we have such a large presence here. We've made a lot of friends through the forums and we not only stand behind our on product but the vendors we carry as well.

As I said previously I've had JLT's parts on my Mustangs, my fathers, friends and I recommend them whenever I get the opportunity to do so. They're a great crew there and I can't say nice enough things about what a pleasure it is to carry their product here.

I get notifications pushed to my phone and I'm bordering on being an insomniac so I'm always watching to make sure that we're here!
