Good question.

Either swansongs for the S550........but then you'd think the work required would be better spent on the S650/S550 v3/'21MY refresh.

S650 will start by 2021CY (2022MY) and there won’t be any (Mustang) Hybrids prior S650

Timeline for me looks like this:

- Before mid 2019 we'll see a batch of GT500s. They'd be MY19.

- Then no change for the MY20 GT500/R.

- In 2020 new S650 rocks up with atmo V8 hybrid. Lets call that a Cobra for argument's sake. Possibly an MY21. This alone will be monster. Could it even be a the next GT350? I'm just trying to imagine a ~575hp Voodoo aided by an electric motor or 3. And DCT.

- Then if said beast is coming after the atmo hybrid we're looking at MY22. That's another 3 years.

Edit: just saw your post now Farruko.

Fixed that for you. Adding a bunch of weight and complexity is pretty much the opposite of the GT350 tradition. I hope Ford saves that crap for the GT500 or some effete Lincoln luxo-mobile that doesn't need to save weight.

OK fair enough. I was just trying to imagine how much better it would be with some actual power below 3500rpm. Whatever that drivetrain will be in it'll be superior to a GT350 on the street.
From what we can gather from the above hints this would sit between the GT and GT500, and GT500 will get this gear plus forced induction.

I can totally understand if they were to usher in hybrid with GT500 before S650. The GT500 usually comes in at the end of a Mustang's cycle so if Ford were to wait for S650' GT500 then that is potentially in 2025/6. Another reason is not being upstaged the following year by an n.a. V8 hybrid.

How would adding 150ft-lbs from zero rpm to the Voodoo improve your GT350?
I personally do not feel the car needs more power or tq just less weight. Having said That, you said superior drivetrain. The tq is produced by the powertrain. I was looking for clarification on what you meant by superior. You just ment hp/tq.

Agreed that the GT350 is not constructed to be the quickest in a stoplight to stoplight race.

The GT500 should be a real boulevard bruiser.
