I have a Whipple setup, and Im on stock suspension, eunning a hoosier 28x10.5x17 slick, and Im not able to get into 1.5 60’, been 1.64 so far, so Im wondering if by switching to a 15” wheel with slicks would make a significant difference?

More sidewall always helps, but you should be just fine on a 28 with a 17. There's much more to it than the sidewall height and I do not think doing the 15" conversion is going to be the end all be all to this.

Is your car spinning off the line? Bogging? Can you launch at a higher rpm? I see your a stick car, is the clutch slipping?

Since you said the suspension is stock, I would work on the rear suspension first and go from there. I am pretty confident that adding rigidity to the rear suspension would get you to your goal of a 1.5x 60'.

I would think adding some bmr components along with playing with air pressure, length of burn out and launch rpm you should be able to get into the 1.5's.

I have a Rxt and best result has been side stepping, been trying at 16,14,12,10 psi and longer burnouts and my best is at 4800rpm , it just spins right off the line

You need to try a better track. I went to my local track with the slick setup (2nd time out with them). The track was crappy, I couldn't use the 2 step because it would annihilate the tires. Got 3 passes all day, Slipped the clutch out from 3k rpm, still went a 1.67 60' and a 10.62 @ 133.5. At MIR I was able to go off the 2 step at 3800rpm, it would spin the tires over about 5 turns but went 1.52 60', and 10.4 @ 132mph.

Sounds like you need some suspension work.

Side stepping the clutch isn't always the best method with a stock suspension car. You may want to let out the clutch like normal, but as quick as you can. This is slower than side stepping, but is still very quick. It will allow the clutch to slip just a little bit and not give that ultra quick shock to the drivetrain.

Are you launching off a 2-step at 4800 rpm or building your rpms when you let the clutch out? My guess with the whipple's instant torque is that it may be better to launch off a 2-step rather than generating a lot of momentum with the building of rpms.

Yo!

What he said.

OP, give Kelly a call or send a PM. I am 100% certain he can set you up with a package that would get you into the 1.5's with your current wheel/tire setup.

Check it out.

CB005 Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit
BK081 RLCA Bearing Upgrade
Viking Shocks (B358AM)

Set the shocks at 6C / 10R

Set the Hoosiers on 17s to 13psi pre burnout.

Launch from 4500-4800 with a quick clutch slip.

That should be low 1.5's or high 1.4s all day long.

Atleast is it is in my direct experience.

;)

If I add that list, on the same prep it will give me better traction?

Those parts will allow you to achieve better traction.

Results do vary, but that is why BMR is so popular and successful - we assist you in achieving your goals after the sale.

I have direct experience with this topic, so I can tell you that if you do not run well into the 1.50s I would be HIGHLY surprised.
