New Owner! First Mustang!

Hi all, I just bought a Deep Impact Blue EB Mustang yesterday.

I just came back from my first drive in the snow and holy shit that was scary. I got the 20" Foundry wheels with summer tires and there's no traction what so ever.

I barely got out of a Walgreens parking lot, and I know that it's only gonna get worse.

My question is this: Will all season performance tires like the Continental ExtremeContact DWS help at all?

All seasons will definitely have more traction, but dedicated winter tires would be ideal. Summer tires are mostly useless under 40 degrees, but excel in spring/summer/fall over all-seasons.

all season is good for no season
not good in summer and not good in snow or ice
you did not buy some subcompact something
so do not buy some suboptimal something of a tire
and do not worry about Performance of modern winter tires
the ones on my BMW z4 35i are allowed to Speeds up to 270 km/h (i.e. 170mph)

If you already have summer tires might as well just get winters. The point of all seasons, for me at least, is to keep them on year round.

I was hoping to keep them on for the whole season but if they're not gonna be much better than the Pirelli's then I should be thinking about another set of wheel/winter tires.

What a car though? I'm super happy with it and it's great having a manual gearbox again!

WeatherTech's are on the way I'm looking for a GT style front grill, the EcoBoost isn't perfect but will do the job for now!

They do work good for ALL SEASONS. They're on more cars through out the US than dedicated Summers or Winters.

Winter tires are better than A/S in the snow, so if you are planning on driving in the snow get winter tires...For me the way to go is A/S for temperatures in the winter...

I pulled my GT PP wheels/tires 3-days after buying the car to mount up my GT500 wheels with All Season tires. I agree, the summer only tires are a little too slick to use during the cold weather, much less snow, and yes, the traction difference in the cold and/or wet and cold was night and day. If you live in a normally snowy area, I agree in just getting a setup with snow tires, and at least All Seasons with a M+S rating.

I made the decision to sell the 20" factory wheels with the P Zero's in favor of some aftermarket wheels/A/S tires.

I'll avoid the snow as much as I can, plus I work lass than a mile from where I live, shouldn't be too bad. I simply don't want to have to change wheels/tires every winter.

I've had the Contis. It's a very solid tire. Is it a snow tire? No. Real snows will work better. If it's a budget thing, I understand. It does work well however. Just don't autocross on it.

Well, I did some research last night and went to drive to work today while the snow was packed-on and it's impossible to get ANY traction.

I'm sold on winter tires and dedicated wheels.

What does everyone thing is a good size wheel/tire combo?

Will 18in wheels with a 40 profile tire work since I have 20in with a 35 profile on now?

. Yes A/S will be much better in the snow. Love the DIB, it is gorgeous!

Uh no...if you live in an effin rain forest that is wet as balls all winter and it barely snows but occasionally freezes and is consistently below 40, all season tires make a ton of sense. Winter tires do not.
