Here, parked in a quiet corner of the Trustford lot, is my Mustang along with six others all doing the long wait until 1st of April when the VED scheme changes.

I will console myself with the thought that I don't have to learn my Mustang's tail happy ways on slippery roads over winter, but this is still going to be really difficult to resist.

In the mean time the box of mods in the garage grows ever larger, probably to compensate and just on that front - tyres.

Did we ever get to the bottom of whether the MPSS replacements were going to come in Mustang sizes? If not, would you suggest I get a set of MPSS before they all sell out and store them until I get the car?

Blimey, and I get grief for not driving my S197 much :D

Not sure I could leave her sat in the corner of a storage lot for 3+ months........I'd want her detailed and kept in the nice warm and dry showroom (with a rope around it and STRICT instructions that no-one sits in it/touches it!!

Good luck with your wait :)

Yea, this is not going to be easy. Perhaps I will have to ban myself from the forums. First sunny day and I'm going to be at the gates of the dealership begging for forgiveness. The dealer did say "you can always change your mind and come back earlier". He's probably got a bet on...

I took delivery of my Mustang 5.0 GT Black on 2 December last year because there was no way I was waiting. Some people were waiting for January and a 2016 registration year but to wait until April is insane.

So from my experience I can assure you that we do occasionally get some very decent weather in the winter months and usually some really great Mustang driving weather in the month of March. :)

Hehehe, this is so why I have to avoid you guys.
It's those £500 renewals! If I wait until April, year 2 onwards is £140

If I close my eyes I can still get the new car smell... 11 miles on the clock... It's calling me.
I'll have to borrow some trade plates...

The last time I had to store a CAR for the winter, I stored it along with my Harley and facilitated it through the Harley dealership. Was stored in a large warehouse with 1,000 other Harleys. :) Food for thought.

Out of interest........have you got the car insured (I believe this can be done on the VIN)......or is the dealership covering it on their insurance?

Hang on, isn't the new systems first year RFL £2k instead of £1k?

If so you save £360 per year, on the new RFL rate..

3x £360= £1080..

So it'll take 3 years before you see a saving over the existing system:crazy:

Screw that....life's to short:)

So at the moment it is the dealership's car. They don't want me to actually pay for it until March, which I thought was rather good of them. I've paid £1k deposit, which as Enoch points out has already been swallowed up by the extra first year tax that comes in April. Yes I know, this doesn't stand up to logic. And besides, I got all the extras anyway, so I'm not even being consistent, swinging from extravagant to parsimonious on a whim. I was planning on keeping this for a good few years, which is why I figured I could wait. My next Mustang will probably be a self-driving one!

Mind you, I probably wouldn't have posted this thread if I wasn't wavering and I can see which direction the audience is going...

Blimey, I'm impressed! That saves you 3 months insurance, too then :)

Will this be a daily driver? If not, then I can appreciate not wanting to take delivery now if you're only going to use it on nice days (there will be a few, but not many before April!).
