Was anything changed internally to beef up the engine for the extra torque? Just wondering if anything mechanical was upgraded, or if the stock tune just pushes it a little harder
I just wish the 18 didn't have those awful stuck on looking hood scoops. It would have been better if they left the eco without them, so at least you could have the option to swap that hood on a gt and have a nice clean look.
I own a 2006 Acura TL since new, now has 93,000 miles. Not a single issue. I also own a 2002 Honda S2000 and it still looks and drives like new. AC still blows cold, and will red line to 9,000 with ease. The german Audi and VW that I had prior had tons of issues so I swore those brands off...
No doubt, I would have bought the type s had it been available in 06. My plan was to trade the TL on a 5.0 after they worked out the bugs, but it appears they have not been worked out. I really wanted a 6 speed rwd sports car so I bought a S2000 instead, and kept the TL as a daily. 9,000 rpm...
This is the reason why I haven't pulled the trigger on the Mustang yet. I've been spoiled by Honda quality and reliability. I've had my Acura for 11 years without a single issue. I would hate to trade it in on a headache and regret the decision. I hope they get their act together because...
Why couldn't they have just left the hood vents alone? Everything else flows so nicely. Did the old ones have any issues like letting in too much water, or not provide enough air flow?
I like everything better except those awful hood vents. What an eyesore! I wish the eco at least came without them so I could swap that hood on a GT, but no such luck.
That pic of the lightning blue eb made me appreciate the flow of the new lines on the 18 front end. The shadows really accentuate how fluid it actually is. It looks sculpted and aggressive. After hating it in the initial release, I'm now actually looking forward towards seeing it in the flesh.
I'll probably get flamed for this... but if you want something that holds its value, is sporty, and reliable - a honda S2000 fits the bill quite nicely. Over the past few years they have even been creeping up in value a bit.
What they "can" and "will" do are two completely different questions. They probably "can" make this 500hp with all these upgrades. However, I have a feeling they "will" do the bare minimum to keep the car competitive and tune it for 455. They want to leave some easy hp on the table for future...
455. It will be the minimal increase to compete with the camaro on power. Ford needs to leave something on the table for the s650 which I predict will be 470. s550 is already killing the new camaro in sales, so no need for a hp war. They'll simply keep it competitive performance wise and...
I'm considering either magnetic or ingot. Does magnetic stay as clean as silver? My current car for the past 10 years is silver and I love how low maintenance it is. I wish they made a color that was in between the two! Oh well, first world problems.
She'll be a base Ingot GT with the 6R80. I'm waiting because I hate debt and want to buy her outright. I just despise debt more than I want a new car. I've had my current car for 10 years and she's been paid off since 2010. She's been as reliable as taxes, so I have a hard time trading her...
