I never did, ended up selling the cluster sadly. However I believe the problem may have been that it was a zero mile cluster so it was never configured as it would have been on a vehicle for first assembly. Maybe they have a certain amount of gas in the cars for the sending unit to “calibrate”...
I honestly haven’t had any problems with mine leaking, I just used the rubber line and made sure it was pressed in place and it’s been fine. If your worried about it then yeah rtv or gasket maker would not be a bad idea
