This Jackie Stewart slot car set was my starter set when I was a kid! The car's headlights lit up, and I remember the metal tool shown in the bottom right corner. Good memories.
"Derpy"- That adjective is the perfect way to describe the 18 front end. I'm so glad I have a 15 GT. I agree that Ford kept the existing style on the 350 and 500 for a reason.
Can you tell me a little more about your experience that you commented on? I'd love to learn from your experience & description, but I could use some more details and clarification, as I'm a "layman" when it comes to car stuff & tracking.
For the first day on the pads at Lime Rock, running the stock Pirellis. For the Nov 4th day, I had upgraded to Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 275/40R19. The grippier tire would have increased the load on the brakes & pads. Any opinions on how greatly the tire swap would have accelerated the brake...
Great day tracking on SVE wheels, right until the pads wore out
Wheels & Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s were great at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The brake pads that were much more worn out & tapered than I realized, not so great.

GT Base brakes lead to greater pad tapering when tracking
While I spoke highly of the Porterfield pads after my spring HPDE day at Lime Rock Park, I had a very scary experience Nov 4th, 2017 at New Jersey Motorsports Park, but not due to the quality of the Porterfield product. At the end of my...
This thread was exactly what I needed. I have been looking for great looking, light, affordable daily driver + HPDE wheels. Your side pic and tire dimensions gave me the confidence to make the purchase. SVE S350 19x10 Gloss Graphite. The graphite goes great with Ruby Red. Picked up Firestone...
My question was completely hypothetical & based on my wish/dream for the future. At my current skill level & HPDE instruction, my GT is more than sufficient for me learn in for the next few years.
I didn't realize my question would launch a backlash of people tired of rehashing this debate. I didn't mean to unintentionally troll. 50 Deep's prompt got me looking harder to find the previous threads. They thoroughly answered my question.
Anyone who feels agitated- chill out. Just...
In a secondary thought that I hate to admit, according to the MT Head to Head track results at the 18:52 mark, wouldn't a Camaro SS 1LE provide an even more affordable means to get the most track performance for the money? [ame]
I already know the Camaro doesn't look or sound as good, inside or...
After reading Motor Trend's 2016 Best Driver Car article and its recent Head to Head of the GT350R vs Camaro ZL1, I keep wondering if the simple upgrades of track lightweight wheels & track aero could quicken the GT350 to match the R? Especially because dealer markups are pushing the 350R price...
The Porterfields did great in HPDE at Lime Rock Yesterday. My instructor drives a 2003 Mustang and said how great the pads felt when he took me out the first two laps. His opinion has more validity than my inexperienced one. They held up great for the four 20 minute sessions. In the last 8...
What recommendations would you or any other replier give for a tire upgrade for tracking + daily driver usage? Anyone have any input on the Continental ExtremeContact Sport reviews on the forum? http://www.mustang6g.com/?p=10871
Below I'll post the content from David Zeckhausen as I inquired about options for my non-PP GT. It seems there aren't nearly as many options for these smaller brakes. CJ Pony Parts' rep recommended the Hawk HPS pads, but reading reviews on Tirerack gave a lot of negative reviews from track use...
I am in exactly the same situation- just starting HPDE in a base 2015 GT. My instructor recommended his brake specialist www.zeckhausen.com to inquire about upgrading pads for continuing HDPE in my daily driver. I talked with CJ Pony Parts in my local area and Zeckhausen by email. With no...
