Impressive numbers by the m2 for sure. I think for the pure joy of driving the M2 is the Victor in this scenario. On a daily basis I still prefer the space and stability on track of my M3 (and door count, which is not offered in the M2) .
Interesting point I'd like to attempt to make...
Track day insurance (lockton, for example) will help ease your fears about wrecking the car. It's replaceable, but way more easily replaceable with insurance.
If you want cheap, do the fiesta. You'll get passed more but when you start passing faster cars you'll feel like a hot shoe.
Trying...
Fantastic car, and no doubt fast. Just like the gt350r though I don't think I could see the value in it over thr "base" versions...especially after ADM. I'd still go with the all-too-classic GT3 in the $100-150k range.
Thanks for the response! The v10 in those cars is intoxicating, I would like to pick up an m5/m6 to experience it whenever I want.
One thing I've realized is that, as long as you don't want to set the world on fire, you can use any car for autox and I commend you for taking the m6 out...
nice writeup, good to hear your impressions. pretty serious guys out there huh? trailering their fully streetable 911s to an autox? hehe a track day i can understand.
what year was your m6? those things are beasts but i haven't seen many on the autox, definitely more of a touring/road...
I've had great reliability with the BMWs I've owned, but habe admittedly never owned one (or any car) for more than a couple years.
The back seats in the Mustang seem very spacious compared to the 2 series.... that's not saying much though haha
HPDEs are the most fun you can have in a car, in my opinion. looks like you were doing quite well out there.
with your eibach springs did you notice a lot of bouncing around or did it feel pretty flat? i think that, based on reviews, i'll be looking at the FRPP suspension setup to be a little...
rev matching, like others have said, is when you blip the throttle when you downshift and called "heel-toe downshifting" or some variation of that when you combine it with braking ... some cars will blip the throttle (rev match) for you. yes it's lazy, but it's also really awesome (pure opinion...
for a daily driver, autox, track car, i think the M2 has the GTPP beat handily. the M2 is quite a bit more cash though, of course, and is essentially useless for someone like me who is over 6' tall and wants to actually put their kids in the back seat from time to time. i test-fit my kids into...
gotta love free and easy mods. i've test driven a couple GTPP cars and my current car (2016 m3) is far easier to drive smoothly. obviously i'm used to my car but after even an extended test drive i thought i would've been getting better with the GTPP. glad to hear there's an easy remedy to...
wow - camaro coming out swinging ... pretty beastly. certainly has its negatives .. i like the gauge cluster a lot and i'm glad they got rid of the giant shiny plastic chunk in the middle of the doors. hideous. not in LOVE with the interior, but it's definitely a lot nicer at a glance...
great writeup and discussion throughout this thread. i'm in the market for a GTPP but was disappointed in the suspension bounce. i drove a $45k 1LE today and it felt nice, but the actual experience was diminished by some of the materials and the view out of the car. glad to hear if i get the...
lots of good shots here. the GT with (apparently) a hitch for the small trailer definitely has my attention. i'm going to want a pull-behind trailer for track wheels/tools and for my bike rack.
that first car is amazing.
i'm not even 100% sure i'll be getting a mustang, but just the fact that a product like this exists for them makes me want the GT PP even more. i'll order a set just in case i get a mustang haha! freakin' BMWs and their stupid little plastic jack pads!!!!!!!!
seems like a good deal to me. my local dealer said he gets "pretty close to TrueCar" which is $3200 off my build (GT, PP, Recaros) which seems pretty equivalent.
thanks for all the posts guys. it certainly stands out but dressing it up a little when not in use with a cap of some sort is a nice option. when i (probably) get my GTPP i think i may do this for bikes and a little track-wheels trailer. i installed one of the invisible hitches on our SUV...
:clap2:
a local subaru staff member gave us a really hard time with test driving the WRX (30mph max, 1/2mi up the road and back with him in the car, lol!) ... and they said "no" to an STi drive a year or two ago. we're both over 30 yrs old. smh.
no way i would buy a car without a test drive...
i'm pretty sure i'm settled on a 5.0PP. my criteria have been: fun to drive, family friendly, and can survive a track day, bonus points for a forum where there was actual discussion about HPDE driving. (i originally wanted something i could easily haul the kids around in on a daily basis...
a removable hitch is a sweet way to go, i think i'll look into it so i can take passengers .. hopefully the search button works better for me with hitches than it did with this.
well i do appreciate you taking the time again to answer this question for me. i swear i searched multiple times...
flipping through pages trying to decide what color to get for my GTPP. i think you helped make up my mind although my current car is almost the same color. this looks perfect to me, nice!
