This is a good point. I used a calculator and it says about 7800 would be fine, but something isn't adding up. It looks like 5th gear held to about 7500-7600, and for a 3.15 rear it looks like that should have been 126mph, but the shift command was at 117mph and the rpms climbed up to 7600...
