  1. Quiet 5.0

a lot of aftermarket intakes seem to open up the filter to hot engine bay air
  2. Quiet 5.0

I'm starting to think Tim hunts me around this forum trying to discredit every thing I say, I'll try harder to shut up from now on.. although, from what I remember the chamber has been spied under test mules equipped with 5.0L's since we where on TMS and this site didn't exist.
  3. No room under the hood...

I don't think a traditional shaker would work with this car, and I'm sure we can stuff a blower under the hood, we'll just have to wait and find out on the brace ultimately what will make the car faster, the blower or a brace?
  4. Quiet 5.0

I think the current cars already used 2.5" pipe, except in one area where they kicked up over the rear axle, I forget what it was called but the pipes were kind of pinched down, IIRC simply removing that restriction found a good amount of power, if you wanted to go further you could bolt on a...
  5. Impression: Saw the 2015 EB Silver Premium at Ford Today

Anyone else notice the three holes in the timing cover for an engine mount? guess this engine is indeed intended to be used in a transverse mounted situation as well. Focus RS rumors may be right
  6. What do you guys think? This thing is awesome!

I've heard it's not optimal, and it does look somewhat difficult to change out the rear shock. but I'm coming from having a 1980 Yamaha XS1100, so I'm sure the handling will still be a very large improvement
  7. What do you guys think? This thing is awesome!

I've been wanting the Yamaha FZ-09 pretty hard, proportioned like a dirt bike, weighs 400lbs, but IIRC has 115hp ..and it comes in a gorgeous metallic orange.
  8. Good Ford dealers

I've worked for dealerships from before I graduated high school, I know how the floor plans work, I know some use third party financing to get lower interest. I have worked at two of their competing dealers, and worked with several of their previous employees and managers. I can't say I've seen...
  9. 5.0 and a lower thermostat

Ahh ok, I was working on my '09 with SCT pro racer and had to adjust stochiometric for ethanol. didn't know they had actually changed it yet, good to know. that is also why anytime I'm looking at fuel trims on older vehicles they are 6-10% positive due to ethanol.
  10. Good Ford dealers

Portsmouth Ford in NH is a large volume dealer and buys a lot of inventory with cash, I grew up in Vermont and New Hampshire, I would check there first, but that is really early, we aren't expecting cars to be here until September.
  11. 5.0 and a lower thermostat

ouch, yup. so a colder thermostat would "Band-Aid" tune for your CAI and exhaust.. kind of.
  12. 5.0 and a lower thermostat

88 mustangs with CA emissions had MAF, 86 cars were speed density and the auto/CFI 85's as well...
  13. 5.0 and a lower thermostat

Timing is the key, Rich is definitely safer for boosted applications, but I just cracked open Greg Banish's engine management book, and he is saying peak power is typically 12.6:1 but can change with different engines. I remember my stock tune in my 5.4L 3V would actually shoot for .85 lambda...
  14. GT350 spied on carrier.

hmm, just noticed. the black car doesn't have the headlamp gills?
  15. Driving a manual

My 88' 5.0L came with an auto, after a few months of my 17yo driving style it lost overdrive. yanked it, stuck a T-5 in it barely knowing how to drive a manual. never looked back. current car has an AOD in it, missing the 5 speed.. conversion awaiting s550 purchase decision. a Manual is a...
  16. MAGNETIC S550 MUSTANG Thread

Kidding aside, I'm really torn between CO and Magnetic. I love the pop of Orange, but the lack of metallic makes this color bland and boring, I think it really hides the lines of the car. Magnetic has a gorgeous metallic factor, I've seen it on a '15 super duty, I'm just afraid of getting...
  17. MAGNETIC S550 MUSTANG Thread

..says the guy using a 400lb primate as his online persona?
  18. Floridian reporting in: Tampa/St. Pete

I've been anxiously awaiting one of these cars to show up at work, but we're in the middle of nowhere and sell a large majority of trucks. I'm starting to worry they won't bother bringing one in. I saw it in Charlotte, but I really want to put my hands on one..
  19. 5.0 and a lower thermostat

Factory calibrations, whenever possible, shoot for stoichiometric (a clean burn). However, there is usually a little more power to be had gently tipped to the rich side of the scale, towards "bad emissions and melted cat" land.. Traditionally PCMs were forced into open loop under WOT, which...
  20. Why is there such a giant hole in the market

I think Ford is missing a great opportunity for a performance Fusion model. a Fusion ST with the 2.3L Ecoboost, AWD and a manual 6 speed. oh man, I'd buy that over an ecoboost Mustang any day. My wifes 2013 Fusion titanium, 2.0L ecoboost FWD is a phenominal car, I absolutely love driving...
